Hello all —
After 2 years of tedious refactoring, mmm.page beta is live!
But before you read further — go surf through explore.mmm.page :)
The beta update brings an interface overhaul and a 90% rewritten codebase. In end-user-terms: premium plans, rich text, drawing, viewport resizing, private pages, custom HTML/CSS, domain names, sections, advanced styling (borders, opacity, etc.), server-side rendering, and an inordinate number of polishes/fixes. Also, sound effects :)
mmm.page has grown from 200 users to 33,000+ members since its launch on Product Hunt two years ago. Surprised to get nominated for a Golden Kitty + winning a Maker's Grant (thanks!). It’s been exciting seeing the range of pages made: pages of My Favorite Things, moodboards, photo walls, prayers, children-drawn comics. Websites closer to an “internet canvas” (paper.mmm.dev).
Looking ahead, I have already begun work on 1.0, which will introduce audio/video support, robust long-form text support, advanced layout capabilities (breakpoints, grouping, row/column), and collaboration features.
But most exciting of all is mmm.town – the fun, social layer around mmm.page. Hopefully building on open protocols such as ActivityPub. More on this later.
— XH ✌️
P.S. If you want to support the project, please consider upgrading! mmm.page is bootstrapped and I plan to remain full-time on this.
This is so cool. I love products that take the everyday things that we are used to and give them a unique twist.
I see this becoming a hit with digital artists.
What are your plans for spreading the word about this ?
@that_ogochukwu Great plan. I am a very shoot from the hip marketer. All the launch assets, tweets, and emails were cobbled together during a 2am frenzy. Any ideas are welcome!
Congrats on your launch! I actually followed you (twitter, of course! 😂 You can search up my account. I created a page 2 years back I think 😂 😂) during the early days because this website creator really sparks personality and creativity to me, but I stopped using because is solely for that.
I do hope that it can fit other use case like blogs and sign up forms, because I am creating a landing page for a single product to test the water... and I am too lazy to learn how to use shopify or webflow.
Can't wait to see what's coming up in the roadmap!
@harrizontal I've heard this feedback from a lot of people. Ultimately, I want to enable the blog + landing page use case. DM me on Twitter if you're running into trouble — this feedback is what will help me help you!
@xhfloz Ah, that's great! Will look forward to those features, and following you closely 😗. Likewise, do let me know if you need a QA tester. Happy to help!
This is revolutionary for non-technical people to make real websites.
In my experience showing this off in person to people on my phone:
Kids love it. Artists love it. Busy people love it.
Absolutely love the name 👀
The interface looks fantastic and the added features really elevate the user experience. Kudos for growing the community to 33k members too!
1) What was the most challenging feature to implement in this update?
2) How will the upcoming collaboration features work?
Excited to see the continued growth 🎉
@vera_mur Thank you — mmm is www upside down.
1. Certainly the long ground-up rewrite. It's that classic meme of the cables looking pristine on the inside, after being all messy, but identical on the outside. But it's paid off in development velocity.
2. Will share more soon :)
Congrats on the beta launch! Product looks awesome and I like that there's been quite a bit of effort made into supporting responsive design.
I must admit I was a bit worried that it would have been forgotten since it can be hard to support when dragging and dropping arbitrary elements but it looks like you've nailed it down 🚀
this is interesting, there are several tools in the market to build beautiful web pages but this one is great to just drag and drop as and when required. All the best!
