Finding which credit card is best for you is time consuming & complicated. momo is a mobile app that helps you find which credit card will earn you the most in rewards. Our users earn an average of $750 in additional rewards.

Clever idea. Why does this need to be a mobile app though? Wouldn't it be less friction to simply navigate to a site and auth with Plaid?

@rrhoover, thanks for your support! In 2020 we saw 52% of credit card applications come from a phone or tablet (2021 Consumer Credit Card Market Report CFPB). With 34% of Gen-Z using TikTok for financial advice, we suspect this number will continue to climb as the generation transitions to credit active. By building mobile-first, we believe we are positioning ourselves well to capture this shift than our incumbents who have built a moat with SEO. However, if youโ€™d rather apply on a computer - we support the ability to transition your top picks from mobile to desktop seamlessly in-app :).

Awesome idea, just downloaded to test it! I had the same issues with my first credit cards. :/ Do I get charged a fee for comparing or signing up for cards? Or how does momo monetize the service? Thanks!
Sean Grossman
@grantroscoe Nope - momo is entirely free for you to use :)

As someone obsessed with points and optimizing my spend - Momo comes in clutch when deciding which card to use, how to best utilize my points, and minimizing annual fees. Love Sean and the team!

@keithepetri Thanks for the support :) Excited for what's next as we continue to help you find new ways to make more money.

Hey Product Hunt! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป @austin_piel and I are excited to share momo with everyone today. momo is a personal finance app that helps you find which credit card will earn you the most rewards. Our mission is to end impersonal financial recommendations and empower you to achieve your financial goals faster. Shortly after graduating from college, Austin and I were searching for our first 'adult' credit card and found the process time-consuming and unnecessarily confusing. With this in mind, we built momo to cut the noise so anyone could find which card was best for them. momo allows you to: ๐Ÿ”ฎ Find which card will earn you the most in rewards ๐Ÿช„ Compare up to 5 different offers at once ๐Ÿ“Š Track your reward earnings by category and card ๐Ÿšช Monitor your rotating perks & bonuses ๐Ÿ“† Stay on top of your annual fee due date ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ Set up bill reminders Thank you @kevin for hunting us, our beta testers for being our first believers, and our investors for taking a chance on us. Download momo now on the App Store & Google Play store!

@austin_piel @kevin @sean_grossman3 Each time I see momo, I upvote ๐Ÿ˜Ž Seriously, great job guys, the product is getting better and better. Love those little tweaks you did with the UX.
Sean Grossman
@austin_piel @kevin @eugenehp Thank Eugene! Excited to talk next share more about our plans with the AwesomeFintech community :)

This is amazing! So beautiful and easy to use. Congratulations on the launch ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€ @sean_grossman3 and @austin_piel I have a question: Iโ€™m currently spending some time in Korea - Is momo only available in the US?
Sean Grossman
@austin_piel @chelsea_j_ Thanks for checking out momo ๐Ÿ˜„ As long as you have a US-registered device you will be able to download momo. Our categorization for rewards is based on the MCC so we will support international transactions!

Woohoo, so excited for the momo team and its launch!! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€ I've used momo a bit already and love the recommendations it intelligently offers based on the bank accounts & cards I've connected, but I've been curious - do you have a full list somewhere of all the banks/cards you currently support?
Austin Piel
@matt_gio Thanks Matt! You can find a list of the banks we support on our landing page (https://www.momo.credit/)

Congrats on the launch guys! A couple of questions 1. Is Apple credit card support is in work? 2. I haven't used most of my credit cards for a while (probably over 2 years) even though they all have perks/rewards. How does momo's recommendation works if I need to make a new purchase? Is there a place in the app I can compare the rewards for all the cards to decide which one to use for my next purchase? 3. I tried linking my credit cards in Momo and for 4/5 I got notification after linking "card was not recognized". Is this a bug? The card was added in the app but I guess it couldn't tag which exact type of card was e.g. Citi Diamond
Ehi Airewele
Congrats on the launch! This is so sick. I secured my Chase Sapphire Preferred Card in May + now I'm considering another card โ€” how does momo factor in recent applications? Love what you're building!!
Austin Piel
@ehi_airewele Thanks Ehi! We're in the process of getting credentialed with the bureaus so soon we'll be able to let you know whether you should (or should not) apply for another card based on your recent applications!
Taggart Lohman
Congrats on the launch! I actually found my Amex Gold Card through momoโ€™s recommendations. Absolutely love what youโ€™re building + excited to see it evolve!! ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Austin Piel
@taglohman Thanks Tag!!
Kevin Esherick
Damn this look really good. I do a lot of my financial planning from my computerโ€”do you guys have a web app that we can use?
Austin Piel
@ktesherick Hey Kevin! We don't support web right now, but momo is built with React Native so we can easily extend to the web in the future. Definitely something on our roadmap!
Carlos Escobar
This looks amazing @austin_piel @sean_grossman3, some questions, I have some concern with Plaid, after their problem selling data, do you have any advice here? How do you handle user information, nowadays every company seems to be easily hacked, what are you doing to shield my information, and lastly what kind of my personal information do you save in your servers? Great job guys!!!
Aurin Chakravarty
Congrats on the launch! If I'm eyeing a new credit card, would I be able to track my credit score through momo?
Sean Grossman
@achakra Hey Aurin! This is one of the most requested features we've received & it's in the works :).
Prath Kotgire
Congrats on the launch guys!! Iโ€™m curious what you think the main differentiator is between momo and other similar apps such as The Points Guy app.
Austin Piel
@pkotgire Hey thanks Prath! The biggest difference between momo and The Points Guy app is that momo helps you find a new credit card AND manage your existing cards, whereas TPG app only helps you manage existing cards.
Lauren Jani
Congratulations on the launch!!! All your hard work these past few years is truly paying off! Looks awesome!!
Austin Piel
@lauren_jani Thanks Lauren!! :-)
Grant Lee
Congrats on the launch Sean and Austin! Cool to see all the progress. The app looks great!
Austin Piel
@gslee Thanks Grant! :-)
Gary Lin
Love it, what's next on the roadmap?
Austin Piel
@garymlin Thanks Gary!! Some exciting things on the roadmap: - Getting credentialed with the credit bureaus so you can monitor your credit score within momo - Adding additional tracking to the 'My Wallet' widget to track promotional rewards and rotating reward categories - Notifications for important dates like when an annual fee is due Keep an eye out for these and much more in the coming weeks/months!
trustin
Congrats on the launch, excited to take it for a spin
Austin Piel
@trustinyoon1 Thanks Trustin - let us know what you think! :-)
Elijah Chanakira
Congrats on the launch! Question about how momo handles user data, do you sell customer data?
Austin Piel
@echanakira Thanks Elijah! We never sell customer data and never will - our revenue is based on affiliate fees earned from card recommendations.
Max Minsker
Very cool! Question for you - this seems similar to Nerd Wallet, is this different?
Austin Piel
@max_minsker1 Thanks Max! The biggest difference between momo and Nerdwallet is that momo uses your transaction history to recommend you a card, whereas Nerdwallet recommends the same cards to everyone. Everyone's financial landscape is different, so we believe the recommendations you receive should be too.
Steven Sabol
Hey Guys! Congrats on the launch - I'm curious, what type of data is factored into a recommendation?
Austin Piel
@steven_sabol Thanks Steve! Our recommendations factor in the cards that you currently have in your wallet, the last 6 months of your transaction history, your credit score, whether you're a student or a veteran, and whether you're interested in crypto rewards cards. In the future, we plan on incorporating any upcoming big purchases, soft perks of a card (like lounge access) and how recently you applied for a credit card.
