Spend your time growing your startup, not managing your database.
Apply to get $3,000 in credit for MongoDB Atlas, the global cloud database service. You'll get technical support, access to events, and more. Apply now: https://mongodb.social/31xkqp3
It's really a no-brainer: If you use mongo as your backend, this gives you free credits to run fully managed mongo as a service. Takes the pain out of install and ops of the database, freeing you to focus on product and applications.
Pros:
Leave the Ops part and DBA to the experts, focus on your product.
Cons:
You may get addicted to "free", forgetting that value has it's price. Not currently offered on Azure.
I look forward to being a part of this accelerator! We are already using Mongo for oogur.com, and the benefits that this accelerator lists on the Mongo site are really exciting. Thank you, Francesca!
Nice initiative. But I feel it might be costly for some startups to carry on with the MongoDB setup after the 12months period.
I have two questions-
1) When is the application deadline?
2) Are startups eligible if they are yet to incorporate?
@sromana14
Startups are chosen based on program criteria included below:
Fewer than 15 employees
Privately held
In business for less than 2 years
Bootstrapped, seed funded and/or pre Series A
Less than $1M in annual revenue
Building a product or service (agencies are not eligible)
Willing to participate in co-promotion with MongoDB & AWS
Have not previously participated in the MongoDB Startup Accelerator program
doesn't seem like there is a deadline
@sromana14 yes it would be cost some to host their database on Atlas, but they would be paying for the service out of pocket otherwise. Many of our companies in the first batch got their Series A or were accepted into a leading accelerator, like TechStars after they joined the program. The funding we offered helped them get to the next stage in their journey so they would afford Atlas for the long-term.
@villainjosh Hi Josh, Yes their pricing is great for what they offer. It's just some startups may find it a bit costly in the long run. But the initial support that they are providing should get the startup off the ground though. As a whole great initiative!
@jacqvon I love working with startups, both offering advice and learning about their vision. Tons of startups were already using MongoDB and running on Atlas, so we pitched an idea to help fund these companies and support their technical growth! this is the second year of the program and we're SO excited to welcome more companies to the accelerator this year and learn about how they're looking to change the world.
We were a part of the first cohort of the MongoDB Accelerator last year. It was an awesome experience, I highly recommend the program as well as the MongoDB Atlas Product. Huge fans! Happy to answer any questions people have.
Amazing service and product. I sleep much better using Altas as our main DB. Maybe a bit costly but it's amazing to have a reliable service and a great backup. @Triporate is a member of MongoDB Startup Accelerator and now a happy paying customer. :)
