I'm so excited to check this out! However I'm concerned about the data collection practices in the privacy policy given the inherently private nature of the data users will put into the service. Chris, could you please elaborate on the approach myReach is taking to ensure the security of user data? Additionally, how do you justify the data collection and sharing with third parties?

You have hit the mark with your comment – data privacy is critical for solutions like ours! Which is why we consider it our top priority! Here are some details on what we do to ensure your data Privacy
- We are currently in the process of getting the ISO 27001 certification for our Information Security Management System. If you are from the US its similar to the SOC2 Type 2.
- To ensure your data always stays within our firewalls and servers we self host ALL the AI models used to process, extract and “learn” your data. The only time we use a third party provider is to answer questions asked to Rich, our chatbot. When you ask a question our AI identifies the most relevant pieces of data that best answer your question and uses OpenAI API to generate the written response. That being said its important to note that we have a data processing agreement signed with Open AI with all the guarantees required by the applicable regulations, which acts as a data processor. In future we hope to equally self host our own LLM but we haven’t yet found one as good as theirs.
- If you are interested in the more technical side, we encrypt your data aligning with industry-tested and accepted standards. We use TLS 1.3 to encrypt and protect your data in transit. The SSL certificate for the myReach platform uses a 2048-bit RSA key. The mix of ciphers suites and TLS protocols provides a balance of strong encryption for browsers that support it and backward compatibility for legacy clients that need it. In addition to the above, myReach also uses AES-256 bit encryption to secure your database connection credentials and data stored at rest.

It's actually very different to Notion :
– Notion is predominantly focused on generating and storing Notes.
– MyReach on the other hand enables you to build a Second Brain – where you can centralize all your data in one place, interconnect it base on context and more importantly search the same way you think. We can store and process virtually "all" your digital knowledge (files, websites, notes, pictures, scanned documents, audio, video, contacts, locations, etc...). All your data is then analyzed, connected and learned so through our chatbot you can ask anything about it and it immediately answers you referencing its sources. In short your ultimate second brain.

The relationships are mostly created manually today but we have developed an amazing recommendation engine which we will release in the next couple of weeks once we finish testing

@mikestaub Hey Mike, we are looking to offer various LLM models to power the chat in the near future. On the other hand, we currently aren't planning on open sourcing the myReach at this time. Hope that answers your question :)
@reach_chris Yes thanks. For what it's worth, I would only ever use a service like this if it was fully open source as the data it has access to is simply too sensitive for me to trust any company.
