Hi folks, this is such a clean and straightforward product. Wondering if you've you tried testing it with (or plan to test with) a non-techy person.
Also, here's a small detail for FB name handlers: you'd probably like for you users to follow best practices and create a page (not a personal account). And for pages there's a lower limit on characters, sitting at number 5. It'd be nice to check what other similar limitations are there (use of numerals, other platforms etc.)
That said, social handlers might not be as important at all :-) Have you thought about non-linear scenarios? Like, let me save a few drafty names, evaluate step 1 (naming) options for each of them, and return later – when I've made up my mind. Then, I can make edits and go with a single one of the ideas.
Good luck!
Alice
This is super handy! After having just done this manually for my side project website I can say this would have made the process of choosing a name/domain so much quicker.
There's a million of these out there but this goes a step or two further. Loved the alt TLA suggestions and the simple logos rendered in a variety of fonts.
Awesome site! So much of what I do but on a single page. I'd love to get account functionality to be able to save my finds ;-) And a native app would also be awesome.
Here is some feedback after we had to make some modifications to launchaco to use it as our startup's homepage.
1) Have a area for the company logo
2) we had to adjust the height of the android device in the devices.css file so that an actual android screenshot fits. We also had to adjust the size of the android device when viewed on mobile because that was a non-standard height.
I love the simplicity. Suggestion: Add a generator to generate names based on the type of company, word combinations, etc. This helps people quickly traverse through names and find a name they like and continue on with their social handles, domains, etc. 👌
Great concept. Some ideas for the next version:
- Besides the WOIS, have the Taken tag, like for the social networks, to make clear it's taken.
- Being able to customize the list of extensions that you would like to check.
- Add more social networks.
- Logo creation is rather useless at the moment. I would use free fonts and generate a set of icons, they you can select icon, font and color(s). Then you can export as svg and png.
