But does it recognize them better than my buddy, @jimmydouglas???
Jimmy Douglas
@rrhoover We’ll find out! 😎
Krzysztof Jackowski
Hey @rrhoover @jimmydouglas , we can detect front of any car with quite satisfying accuracy of 98%. For classification, we support newest versions of 4 cars in CarLens: Honda Civic, Ford Fiesta, Nissan Qashqai, Volkswagen Passat with effectiveness around 90% so there is a chance you will be better doing this job by yourself @jimmydouglas ;). The goal of this project was to challenge ourselves and see how we can leverage AR and ML in mobile projects. We’ve learned a lot, build internal process to create more apps powered with ML and stretched our minds looking for ways to collect images for the dataset. This is an early beta version of the app and we would like to keep improving the model and adding new cars in the future.

@rrhoover @krzysztof_jackowski It’s awesome! Can confirm, it thinks my GTI is a Passat. 😊
Tomasz Grynkiewicz
@rrhoover @krzysztof_jackowski @jimmydouglas what if your GTI has some parts taken from Passat? ;-)

Not used but, congrats on a very difficult task.

Pros:

Impossible job considering a lot of cars look exactly the same these days.

Cons:

None.

This is yet another RnD product from Netguru. Some fun around AR and ML algos.
Kushal Ashok

Looking forward to addition of more models

Pros:

Fun and easy to use. Good use of latest technologies.

Cons:

No cons as per current development stage.

Rafal Salak

Love to see how the team improves the model with next apps.

Pros:

Well-thought Machine Learning model, shows what mobile apps can achieve when AR is leveraged.

Cons:

Still in RnD version.

Maybe fuel economy is a better metric than top speed for the main screen?
Sukhpal Saini

Would love to see a gamified version, collecting cars like Pokemon in the real world!

Pros:

Impressive use case.

Cons:

Limited car model detection. Categorized my Altima as Passat. Since this is RnD project, I'm sure it will improve over time.

Kushal Ashok
I also thought of pokemon hunting while trying to find all the four models. Would be great for kids and sometimes even for adults.
Jess Boerner
This will be impressive if it can distinguish between different models of a similar car. Think 430i/440i vs M4.
Krzysztof Jackowski
@jess_boerner it would be really great. Unfortunately sometimes differences between models are so small even for human it's difficult to distinguish. We will be investigating the possibilities. For now out priority is to support majority of car brands with most important models.

@jess_boerner @krzysztof_jackowski User Acceptance Test: Marisa Tomei's "The defense is wrong" scene from My Cousin Vinny -
, where she properly identifies the similarities between a 1964 Buick Skylark and a 1963 Pontiac Tempest (the paint color part - not the tire tracks)

I really liked the idea of combining this app and the gameplay of Pokemon Go. At least in some of the realities, I will be able to assemble a garage of cool expensive cars.

It is very cool! In fact, the market lacks good apps for drivers. It would be especially interesting to know about the portal with insurance. For example, I accidentally stumbled upon a profitable company https://www.general.com/ but if not for the case, I would be overpaying a lot of money.

I think it's a cool app because I'm keen on cars. But for some reason, I don't get lucky with them at all. My first car was broken within the first year, and when I got a second one a few years ago, I got in an accident. I didn't know any lawyers, so I'm glad my friend suggested great law firn. You can click here click here and check it out, I'm sure that these lawyers can win any case.

Nice, would be great if it can be used to detect hidden cop cars
