neverinstall is a cloud platform that allows you to run any application from the browser without installing it on your device. It is an alternative to traditional desktop application usage and enables people to stream applications over the web.
Im using neverinstall everyday to open 100 of tabs on chrome on my m1 macbook. Supercool to see new features. Is android studio fully compatible in this release?
I'm not sure I understand this, but I like it as a way of organising apps. I can already browse websites and run apps and programs (not web apps) on my computer, and without wifi, but Never Install can't run any apps not approved and configured for the Never Install platform.
Some questions:
1) Does the service involves remotely accessed virtual machines?
2) Is it like an alternative to a VPN for specific apps?
3) The data protection laws of where it is hosted matter, so which country is this cloud platform hosted in?
@ianmayman Really appreciate for your detailed queries. Let me explain about the problem we are trying to solve and as per your feedback we will try our best to elaborate it on the website as well.
Problem: As you mentioned you are able to run most of the apps on your computer. But as more & more apps are consuming memory, compute and storage which would significantly slow the computer performance. In a way we are always dependent on the limited nature of hardware we buy in our lifetime.
Solution: What if you are not dependent on your computer hardware anymore. All your apps hosted in cloud and accessible directly from your browser without the need to download or installation. We are trying to solve this very same problem.
1) Yes, we host these apps in powerful remote machines which are streamed directly to your browser. (Think of it as Netflix for apps ;)
2) Yes, the browsers hosted in different server locations act as your VPN. You dont need to download or install any VPN anymore.
3) Currently, our servers are located in 4 regions - US, UK, India and Singapore.
Hope I was able to answer your queries, happy to answer more!
“neverinstall supercharges your favorite apps with lightning-fast internet speeds and powerful computing.”
Meanwhile → “What is the workspace configuration in the free plan? Workspaces by default are of 2vCPU compute, 4GB memory, and 5GB storage.”
With 4 GB of RAM I’m pretty sure neverinstall would be much worse at handling design software than my low-power laptop…
@anna_0x , these configurations are part of our Free Plan which we intend to give to every user perpetually while we also offer paid plans for higher configurations that are sufficient for hardware intensive design tools. We have spent significant amount of time in innovating and optimizing our infrastructure layer to bring down our costs, but we intend to increase default configuration even further as we scale up and scale out our infrastructure.
The best of the best! Been using Neverinstall for almost a year and has been a savior for me! Saves so much! Would definitely recommend to everyone! You can signup for the platform and get an incredible experience and understand the capability of the platform.
@heythisisom I like this if it means I can have those 100 tabs ready for when I need them, instead of constantly in the background of my browser. :) I could bookmark them of course, but I've got thousands of bookmarks already! Maybe a tab manager is a better solution to this.
This is a fascinating product. I have a question regarding the hardware on the free plan. It's currently set to 2vCPU and 4GB RAM. How often will the hardware be changed?
@billh93 The base free plan configurations won't change till we get a sizeable feedback from the users. We feel the base configuration would be enough to operate apps with decent resource requirements.
Hardware has failed us.
Hello everyone!🐱
When my twin brother and I started building neverinstall, 🚀 the idea was to create a platform that would circumvent system requirements, allowing users to get a native app experience from any device without limiting themselves to machines. We decided it was time to bring a fundamental shift in personal computing and leverage the cloud to deliver it.
We’re building a platform that allows users to run a variety of GUI applications 💻, pre-configured within neverinstall that can run without the need for downloading or installation, or upgrading hardware. Resource hungry applications are streamed to the user with dynamic resolution adjustments to accommodate various internet speeds.
Over the past year we’ve been testing and developing the platform, adding new features and functionalities and listening to what our users need. Today, we are coming out of Beta with the launch of neverinstall 2.0. 🎉
Here’s what’s new at neverinstall:
A brand new UI ✨
We’ve optimised the platform and changed the UI for improved access, better visibility of the workspaces and higher performance.
Data Saver Mode 📡
The platform now offers a data saver mode to allow users with lower internet speeds or limited usage quotas to reduce their data consumption by up to 50%.
Mobile Portrait Mode 📱
We now support both landscape as well as portrait mode for mobile usage of neverinstall, adding more flexibility to the platform.
New servers in Europe 🌎
Earlier this year, our new servers in the United Kingdom went live. These would enable European users to get improved performance and smoother access to the platform.
Subscriptions 💰
We’re delighted to announce that we’ve now launched our subscription plans. Users can subscribe to a Standard or a Premium plan to access higher compute, memory and faster build times.
However, the free tier remains unchanged with unlimited usage and unrestricted access to all apps.
We would like to thank all our users for being with us throughout this journey and offer sincerest thanks to @kevin for hunting us. 💖
Hello people of PH! 🐱
We’re thrilled to announce that we’re coming out of Beta with the launch neverinstall 2.0. 🚀
We’ve come a far way from roughly 100 registered users to more than 3000 daily active users today, with a total registered user base of 200,000 in less than a year. This past year has been a growing journey for us and our users have been key to the evolution of the product. 😀
When we launched the product we were not sure how the public would react to a product such as neverinstall, however, we were absolutely delighted when we noticed an overwhelming response from the public.
Not only was the audience engaging with the platform far exceeding our expectations, users were interacting with the product and providing valuable feedback to make known what they wanted from it.
Developing on the request of our users, we added more apps on our platform, including new design tools such as Figma, as well as leading communication applications including Slack and Telegram with more to follow. 🛠️
We started the project with just the two of us, set out to bring a paradigm shift in the realm of personal computing.
From a team of just us twins, we’re now a team of 14 passionate engineers, designers and writers trying to deliver the best personal cloud computing experience to our users.
Over the next year, we plan to double the size of our team and reach a registered user base of over 1 million.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank @kevin for hunting us, and all our users who have supported us throughout this exciting journey. 💖
@kevin@ram_pasala hey, Figma and other design tools are listed as “coming soon” on the landing page. Does that mean I cannot use neverinstall to access Figma? 🤔
@kevin@anna_0x@owenfar1 Yes figma already has a web app. But if you run it along with other apps in your computer, it significantly consumes high memory and compute. Now if figma is running on a remote powerful computer and you are able to access it through your browser. This would be much faster than your local figma app.
used it..the experience is pretty smooth. i see a definite use case here for heavy compute apps like figma and IDEs like intellij to be shifting over cloud
