Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 — Self-lacing running shoes
Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 is Nike's first line of shoes that can lace themselves, thanks to an internal cable system comprised of fishing line and a pressure sensor located in the sole that responds to the weight of your foot as you move with “an algorithmic pressure equation.”

We're finally catching up with Marty McFly's vision of the future. Nike is releasing its first self-lacing running shoe this coming holiday season. The shoe has a pressure sensor built in to the heel that detects foot pressure and tightens the laces for a custom fit to each foot. The shoe will also sync with the updated Nike+ app.

I've been waiting for this for a long time, but I'm curious about the implications of tying this to an app and a digital platform. Will my shoes need continuous OTA updates to keep lacing themselves?
I admit to just blindly upvoting this due to the concept alone. Sorry, but the 80's kid Back to The Future geek inside me couldn't help it.

Wow, these are sick. It's crazy how far technology has come. In some years, we will not need to teach the kids how to tie their shoelaces with this kind of tech shoes. My bank account will be crying if I buy these. I don't know about yall, but I will stay at my "traditional" air jordans 1 high and continue to tie my shoelaces. They are very comfortable and at a very reasonable price compared to these high-tech ones. And you can style them for everything. 10 years from now, kids won't know how to take public transportation or drive (uber/automated cars), cook (Postmates, Uber Eats), have non-digital conversations...or...tie their shoes. 0_0
@nnezhat do you or I know how to harness a horse, plow a field and harvest it or...or...I got nothing for your non-digital point. Tying our shoes is SO laborious 😉 It was destined to die in our lifetime.
@romanzadyrako I'm guessing $450+ you can already buy high-end running shoes at Nike for $250 on average. This seems a step above that
