NoMo — A 2-Player Game to Help You Cut Down on Bad Habits

NoMo is a simple 2-player "game" to help you cut down on habits you don't like. The game design uses a cash based penalty + accountability driven by a buddy (of your choice) to keep you from indulging too much :)

Hey Ruchir, I found out about nomo while sending you an email about our day jobs. This is brilliant! Do you plan on releasing an iOS version?

I had been trying to cut down on desserts (had put on a some pounds 🙈) - but always fell for temptation at the last minute (can't resist them 🍪🍫 when I see them). After a while of trying and failing, friend (who was also looking to eat healthy) and I came up with a "game" - we said we both would only eat 2 servings of desserts a week and pay the other $5 for every time we ate more than that. This game turned out to be surprisingly VERY effective. Things got interesting! A competitive spirit emerged between the 2 of us which further drove us to stick to the rules. There were times when you had just had a bad day OR it was a special occasion and you wanted to have some dessert - so we introduced the concept of a FREE PASS (there were times where we debated whether a free pass was warranted but it was a useful concept which gave us some flexibility with the rules we chose). After a couple of 1-2 weeks of playing - I has become very conscious of my sugar intake and felt MORE IN CONTROL of my dessert/sugar eating habits. This game has helped me - and I hope it can help you too. Are you trying to cut down on something? Give it shot. Would love to hear any suggestions/feedback :)
