@hamza_afzal_butt Thanks! Hey everyone, I’m Michael, one of the creators of NotCommon. You know that uneasy feeling when you’re not sure if a website or social media profile is legit or just a scammer in disguise? We’ve been there too. It really hit home when a friend got duped by an impersonation scam, and we thought, “There’s got to be a better way to navigate this!” So, we built NotCommon. Our goal is to make the internet a bit safer and give everyone some peace of mind while browsing. We’d absolutely love for you to give it a try and share your thoughts. Your feedback means a lot and will help us make NotCommon even better. Thanks for checking it out!

@gchiaren @michaelrpierce @annaho2000 Appreciate it, AnnaHo! We'd be grateful if you could take a look and let us know any areas where we can improve further.

@owenfar Thanks so much! Regarding our process, there’s currently some manual work involved in the website verification piece. You can see our current process here: https://notcommon.com/how_notcom... We’re developing solutions to automate this process using registrar information and providing options for people to self-verify. For now, human verification is still part of the equation. We’ve started with common impersonation targets like banks, charities, shipping companies, etc., and we’ll continue to expand as we grow. We want to introduce more alerts on known spam, but the problem is with AI it is so easy to make convincing impersonating fake sites and social media profiles, it was easier to role out a list of what we verify for the MVP. Having said that, more to come! ;)

@gchiaren @michaelrpierce @hamza_afzal_butt This looks fantastic! The all-in-one verification feature is like having a personal bodyguard for our social media accounts. Definitely a much-needed tool in today’s digital landscape. I am sure users are going to like it. Consider adding a feature that alerts users when they follow new accounts to ensure they're verified right from the start. Best of luck with NotCommon! 🚀
Rohan Chaubey
This is much needed given that impersonation is so common these days. Even parody accounts can buy verification tick. Thanks for sharing. :)
Michael Pierce
@rohanrecommends Exactly! Each social media platform has its own definition of ‘verified,’ which can be really confusing.
Kyrylo Silin
Hey Hamza, I'm wondering, how does NotCommon handle websites or profiles that aren't widely known but are still legitimate? Does it have any mechanisms to avoid false positives or negatives? Congrats on the launch!

@kyrylosilin Appreciate the support on our launch, Kyrylosilin! NotCommon uses user reports and validated databases to guarantee accuracy, especially for less well-known yet authentic websites or profiles. We’re constantly updating our systems to minimize false positives or negatives, so you can browse with confidence.
Michael Pierce
@kyrylosilin Yes! Just sign up on NotCommon and connect your accounts. Here’s how the process works currently: https://notcommon.com/how_notcom...
Morgane Perrier
That looks super useful! Can NotCommon also identify AI-powered profiles? One more question : would it be possible to paste any profile URL into the web portal in the future? It’s getting harder to identify real profiles these days, so I think NotCommon could be a really valuable tool! Congrats on the launch, and wishing you all the best!
Michael Pierce
@morgane_prr Great questions and ideas! We don’t specifically aim to identify whether a profile is AI-powered. Instead, we analyze factors like how profiles and sites are interconnected, account age, username similarity, avatar similarity, and more. As NotCommon evolves, we’ll be adding additional signals, so keep the suggestions coming! While we don’t have a URL evaluator yet, that’s a fantastic idea and something we plan to develop. Thanks so much for trying it out and for your feedback!
Morgane Perrier
@michaelrpierce Thank you for taking the time to reply! And congratulations on securing the first place :)
Nikola Djordjevic

Dmitry Titov
Congrats! Is it like Google but with verified accounts?
Giulio Chiarenza
@ititov_agency Thanks! Well the product itself is a browser extension, so as you are browsing around to different websites and profiles, you'll see a little green dot saying that the thing you are on is Legit/Real. If you are asking about the website, yeah it's set up a little bit like a search engine, just because we want people to be able to search and quickly see the "online footprint" of someone like https://notcommon.com/dwayne-joh...
Michael Pierce
@ititov_agency Thanks! Right now, our primary focus is on highlighting authenticity to help people avoid impersonation scams. That said, as we gather more data, there’s also a fascinating opportunity for discovery down the line.
Alex Bravo
I like how you’ve laid out the most-followed accounts. Could be fun to have a feature where user can see emerging influencers and brands that are growing quickly. Adds an extra level of discovery.
Michael Pierce
@al_ex_bravo Thanks! We thought this could be a fun feature, and as we add more data to profiles, it will enable a really cool way to discover new people and brands.
Ali Jan
Congrats on the launch of NotCommon! A free browser extension that verifies the authenticity of websites and social media profiles is a fantastic tool for staying safe online. Love the real-time legit indicator for added peace of mind!
Jabari Zuri
The green light feature is a great one. It adds an extra layer of security to my browsing experience. Highly recommended!
Michael Pierce
@jabari_zuri Thanks! We aim to bring peace of mind to everyone, including non-tech-savvy individuals like the elderly who are often targeted by phishing scams, so we wanted something simple and easy to look for.
Allison P. Bain
Hey, there! I really value your efforts to make online safety more accessible.
Francesco
Hi @hamza_afzal_butt, congrats on the launch! Just out of curiosity, what are the next features in your product roadmap?
Michael Pierce
@neolocus Thanks! Next, we’ll work on allowing users to self-verify their own websites, using AI to generate alerts when something appears suspicious, and making the platform more community-driven. This way, everyone can help report what’s real versus fake.
Carmen Judson
I never thought I’d need a tool to verify if I was talking to the real Dwayne Johnson! But here we are. 😂
Michael Pierce
@carmen_judson What an age we live in! Unfortunately, everyone with influence becomes a target. Carolyn Wozniacki was impersonated, and journalists picked up misattributed quotes. Even tennis players aren’t safe anymore, which is frustrating for everyone. https://x.com/CaroWozniacki/stat...
Dmytro
Guess it will be still hard to beat Google Chrome, but the idea is fantastic, kudos:)
Michael Pierce
@dmytron Absolutely! Google does a great job (most of the time) warning people about malicious domains, and I’d love to incorporate Google’s Safe Browsing data into NotCommon. However, on social platforms, they often get it wrong and even display incorrect results in the knowledge panels of search results.
Den Taylor
Great job on this launch! t’s nice to see a product that genuinely aims to help users online.
Djbutterrock Goulet
This tool could make a real difference in helping users distinguish between authentic accounts and fake ones.
Star Boat
Wow, what an awesome tool! 🎉 Huge congrats to the team behind NotCommon for this timely solution! It’s so important to stay safe online, and this extension sounds like a game-changer. Can’t wait to give it a try! Keep up the amazing work! 💪✨
Michael Pierce
@star_boat Thanks for the encouragement!
Salar Davari
A must-have tool for every net & social media user it seems. Don't know why I can't play the video. So excuse me for asking. Does Not Common also block the suspicious accounts?
Michael Pierce
@salar__davari Not yet! We’re starting by highlighting what’s legitimate, but it’s on our roadmap to also warn people when things look suspicious.
