Seems like VR was made just for this type of content. That is meaningful and interesting stories that document the human condition throughout the world. The Displaced is so far the best VR documentary. While you needed to be a print subscriber to get the Branded Google Cardboard viewer, the content on this app is free. It can also be viewed in regular format if you don't have VR capabilities.
