Wow - this is crazy. Not to get into deal specifics but what are the biz mechanics? Revenue share on cars sold using?
...electric vehicle platform in Open Source and it will be available to everyone on sale through a partnership with OSVehicle...
Looks cool. FYI - Clicking on the POM logo opens the image in the same tab.
I really hope the rise of electric cars will make us work on the more important, underlying issue - finding a sustainable (aka green) way to generate energy in mass scale.
@kingkcbarrett We are adding POM open source platform by Renault to our ecosystem together with TABBY EVO 2 seats and 4 seats version. Another great ready-to-use platform to develop on!
@yukiliu@tin_hang_liu that's fantastic! How have the crash avoidance tests compared to other systems? I have to imagine that it avoids Mercedes, Audis, BMW, and Porches better than other systems. Does it reverse well? What's it's U-turn, and K-Turn times? They have to be record setting, because it's made with Renault
@kingkcbarrett thank you! Sure why not. POM doesn't have it in the standard configuration, that's why we are encouraging hackers, startups, companies to develop new technologies on top of it
Hi hunters,
I’m Tin, the founder and CEO of OSVehicle (YC W16), which makes open source electric vehicle hardware platforms (chassis, braking and suspension system, lithium batteries, electric motor, etc…).
I’m proud to announce here a new platform is entering our ecosystem, POM, based on the Renault Twizy EV and soon available for everyone to develop, hack, create new mobility solutions.
For the first time in the automotive history, a big automaker is releasing its electric vehicle platform in Open Source and it will be available to everyone on sale through a partnership with OSVehicle.
Also ARM is involved in this partnership.

Feel free to ask me and my team anything here too! We’d love to hear your feedback.
Sounds great! Just to be clear is the product going to be a clean chassis such as the Tabby? And is the platform available for modifications? ie: building a new exterior+interior based on the existing chassis?
@ldunys Sure, TABBY EVO and POM are different in dimensions and configuration. We are very happy to welcome a great Auto OEM like Renault in our open ecosystem. Together we will offer more options to develop on to better serve the new needs from the market.
@idris Indeed! Mobility is changing fast and asking for new solutions! That's why we are working hard to empower new and existing players to actively contribute to a more innovative and sustainable mobility faster. Thanks so much for your love!
