Orbit is an all-in-one community platform to create, discover and join valuable professional communities. Bring your community closer together to collaborate, share and learn.
Hey @oliverwaters taking a tour of the platform on the website; looks incredible! Seems to be straddling the gaps in a few existing platforms, like Meetup with more robust community functionality, or LinkedIn Groups with solid tools and event integration?
Which existing services do you think Orbit will better serve the audiences of?
@paul_a_smith Thanks Paul. You nailed it. We've designed Orbit to better serve smaller interest groups, events and communities that bring professionals together. We've optimised the experience around that; better connecting people through their skills, experience and goals, whilst supporting knowledge and opportunity sharing.
As you rightly identified, we're bridging the gaps between services like Meetup and LinkedIn Groups, whilst providing a more unified community experience and workflow than those often found fragmented across a suite of products like Slack, MailChimp and Eventbrite.
Hey everyone!
I'd like to introduce you to Orbit, a platform we have been building to help bring professional communities closer together.
Interest groups, events, places and brands bring people together and form the foundation of community. However, turning that into a vibrant and valuable community isn't easy.
Community managers and organisers quickly find their workflow, efforts and data fragmented across multiple products. This trickles down to a community's members, resulting in a disjointed and fragmented experience.
Enter Orbit.
Orbit provides organisers and community managers with the tools to easily build, manage and engage professional communities in their own dedicated digital space.
On top of our community platform sits our network. The Orbit Network is made up of every person and every community on Orbit, connected by their relationships with each other. We'll be opening up the network soon which will allow people, communities and events to become discoverable.
Relationships are the backbone of community and we want to leverage this to help our members discover the right people and the right communities to help them succeed.
It's early days for Orbit and we'd love to have you join us. So you can dive right in, we've setup a demo community for Product Hunters to check out, just click the website link above.
We'd love to hear your feedback and questions.
Thanks!
We have been using Orbit for a little while now for both our MK Geek Night community in Milton Keynes, our physical events and now our covid-related virtual events. Orbit is awesome and we are really excited how we can utilise it even further.
With another project our team are now exploring how we can use Orbit in a physical, collaborate space. Very exciting!
Looks promising and interesting but I have to say, after the 3rd time of trying to create the profile and filling out every step of the forms only to be routed back to the beginning every time staring at a blank form is really frustrating and pretty much killed any excitement I had. It's like this infinite loop that just wastes your time and gets you nowhere.
@noahraskin_ Hi Noah. Sorry to hear you had problems signing up. I'll DM you on Twitter so we can investigate this further. Thanks for letting us know.
Will try this.. currently running 1 tribe of Product Owners/managers. But we want to extend to 10 tribes of 10 people each. We are currently using Basecamp and that works suprisingly well.
@derck_hoogeboom Hi Derck. Sorry about that. We've pushed some updates that should stop this. If you're still having issues, drop us an email on support@orbitapp.io an we'll investigate this further for you. Thanks.
Great to see innovation in this space. Orbit has a lot of potential and I love the idea of bringing the various (currently fragmented) parts of the puzzle together. Being able to run payments for memberships within the same system will be awesome, and maintaining the intuitive design ethos throughout Orbit as it grows will definitely be a winner - so many good ideas that are poorly executed in this space.
