The Oura Ring 4 looks like a great update, including a redesign of the Oura app.
Particularly, the new uniform design seems to improve both the data is collects and the effectiveness of the software in how it collects it:
At a glance, the Oura Ring 4 doesn’t look too different from the Gen 3. However, the new ring will be fully made from titanium. (The previous ring had an epoxy interior.) All the rings will also be completely round, like the current Horizon models, with no flat edge. Perhaps most notably, the sensors no longer have protruding dome-shaped covers. Instead, they’re recessed for a flatter, more comfortable profile.
The bigger update, however, comes from software. Oura says its new algorithm helps solve a major problem with smart rings — the fact that everyone’s fingers are different and smart rings can move out of alignment during the day. That can mean sensors aren’t pulling data from the optimal place, which leads to gaps in data. To solve that, the new algorithm increases the number of signal pathways from eight to 18. Supposedly, that allows it to pick which signal is best at a given time.
Not sure I'm going to upgrade my Gen 3 just yet, but improved data collection is a compelling value prop for me.
Impressive how much technology can be fit into such a small device. Not a fan of rings unfortunately, so it's still a no for me, no matter how small it gets.
Exciting launch for the Oura Ring 4! The combination of enhanced accuracy, sleek design, and a revamped app experience makes it a must-have for anyone serious about health tracking. Looking forward to seeing how it elevates personalized wellness!
The Oura Ring 4 definitely sounds like a solid upgrade, especially with the improvements in design and data accuracy. The move to titanium and the fully rounded design seem to enhance both comfort and durability, and I love that they’ve eliminated the sensor protrusions for a smoother fit. The real game-changer here, though, is the software update. Increasing the number of signal pathways to 18 is a smart way to tackle the issue of alignment and data gaps—it’s great to see them addressing the variability in how people wear the ring.
For those who prioritize accurate health tracking, this new algorithm could be a big draw. I’m with you, though—it might not be worth upgrading just yet if you’re happy with the Gen 3, but the enhanced data collection is definitely tempting!
@hunter, the Oura Ring 4 sounds like a fantastic leap forward in wearable tech!
The move to a titanium build and the sleek, rounded design without the dome-shaped sensors seems like a smart choice for both durability and comfort. It’s impressive how you've addressed the alignment issues with the increased signal pathways—18 pathways should indeed offer a more consistent data capture experience. While I’m still on the fence about upgrading from my Gen 3, the enhanced data accuracy and personalized insights from the new algorithm are definitely tempting.
Excited to see how this evolves the user experience within the Oura community!
Congrats on the launch! 🚀 Combining best-in-class accuracy, personalization, and sleek design, this smart ring redefines comfort and convenience. Excited to see how it enhances the overall wellness journey for Oura Members!
@chrismessina Congratulations on the launch! Went to the website of the Oura ring. Just a quick feedback: The website effectively emphasizes the Oura Ring's health advantages, however the navigation might be a little intimidating because of the recurring menu selections and extended content.
The reimagined app experience sounds super intriguing. I love the focus on personalization but does the app support syncing with other health and fitness platforms? It would be amazing if this could integrate seamlessly with my existing data. Congrats on pushing the boundaries of wearable tech.
Having used a few smart rings before I have to say the design of this one really stands out. It’s both stylish and practical. But I did notice a bit of a learning curve with the app. It’s great that it’s feature rich but maybe simplifying some of the navigation could help new users get the most out of it faster. All in all it’s an impressive product.
