@davounet Hi David, if you measure by volume, the plastic parts are only the bits of black and white you see! The whole barrel and cap (excluding the tip) is made entirely out of recyclable paper.
We think you might also appreciate this: we are actually working with the University of Sydney's entrepreneur and academics network to improve the product. In later models of the pen we plan to replace the current plastic (ABS Plastic) to bamboo plastic. We have submitted a grant towards CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) into implementing this.

Neat idea! Do you have any plans to allow for customizations (ie. Business and Organization branding)? I would love to be able to put my business name on these and hand them out/use everywhere.

Great idea! How long do the pens last? I'd love it if you had some sort of comparison performance-wise to regular pens to show that not only are you eco-friendly but they're better pens in general.
@christopher_lee4 Hello Christopher! How long the pens last will largely depend on your writing habits, although theoretically our pens will write about 1km (0.62 miles) in a straight line. Thank you for your suggestion though! This has crossed our minds, and we were planning to create another video for this, stay tuned!

We live in a disposable culture. Most of what we own - from coffee cups to clothes - are either not built to last or are disposed before full use. Particularly when it comes to writing, when billions of cheap plastic biro are thrown out or lost each year, the environmental impact is devastating. They pollute landfill and waterways and when they are burned, they cause air pollution. We wanted to join the ban plastic movement, exploding all over the world, by targeting the next disposable plastic item: Pens.
