Wow, that is an easy and slick way to verify customers. In travel we have issues with fraud i am looking forward to verify future bookings with you guys. How long does it take to get online? Is there any long waiting approval needed?

Awesome product. Very much looking forward both from a consumer side by not being angry about long waiting times and a stupid process like most of companies still have, but also from a founder perspective since this is a very interesting feature to integrate. So just to be 100% sure (still hard to believe): With a nearly „plug and play“ process I integrate ID check that employs state of the art money laundering regulations into my products and thats it for me?

@daniel_kilger1 That's right. You can follow our documentation and integrate AML compliant identity verification + sanctions screening into your product. The current record for integrating a Passbase solution live is about 30 minutes. Under 5AMLD you will still need to monitor transactions on your platform but we take care of the user KYC part. The reason we built this is because we were founders looking for a solution to the problem much like yourself. Other providers were hard to work with, clunky, and expensive! Thank you @phenrysay! Once you as a company sign up you'll be able to start verifying users by integrating natively (we've got SDKs for iOS and Android or on web) or via a weblink. Users go through 3 quick steps including document upload and then you can approve or reject the results from your dashboard.

Hey @jakob_bodenmuller2, as part of the ID document check, we look at the expiry date of the document. Hence you will receive in the API result if the identity document of the person is still valid.

Built-In AML sounds insanely valuable. How does it work? Are you matching the names on the IDs with names in the databases? Or is there more to it?

Hi @mikemahlkow! It's quite powerful for financial services or any business that needs to comply with AML regulations. We extract name and birthday from the identity document. We run this name and birthday against a large set of databases including Watchlist, PEP, Sactions, and Adverse Media and flag to you if there are any issues that should be reviewed prior to the individual onboarding!

@mikemahlkow @dave_mcgibbon1 I'm sitting here watching the "Processing" of my own ID (which is a genius way to get someone started btw). And my brain starts thinking - this is taking a while. It didn't even occur to me that the processing delay is all of the AML that's happening. I wonder if the "Processing" button could say "AML Checking". Then I'd be like "wow - they are doing a really thorough job"... it's a chance for you to show off all of the AML work. You know how SkyScanner check your travel plans against airline companies and they flash up on-screen all the different airlines and associations they are checking against. I think that could help with the credibility factor... blow some minds of people who don't really know what they are looking at currently... that's if its possible/relevant in your eyes...

When Xero was released (first cloud-based accounting platform in 2007) it actually expanded the market and people (my sister for one) were telling me I should sign up even though I didn't have a business at the time. Passbase reminds me of that. I came on here from Dave McGibbon's LinkedIN post, read all these amazing comments, tested it out and I'm like "I can use this". I'm not even in the market. But I need to vet people who work with me. I got stung by a scammer who I engaged and my business partner said, "well did you vet the guy?" - no. I think it is a brilliantly executed solution. From a product and onboarding process, it's made AML easy and sexy. I enjoyed the process. Every screen that stepped you through the collection of the identity was "next level" - subtle stuff that I can't quite recall, but I think you guys have really nailed something. I'm in...

@dave_mcgibbon1 great - I'm not up with the extent of the core AML /KYC / identity check market, but from what I'm reading from the users here and your team's response, you've ripped it all apart and built something fantastic. When you pay for a "background check" it covers police, criminal and other stuff. Will you expand to that? Do you have any of that baked into this.

Really interesting product! How do you ensure privacy and secure such sensitive information? GDPR compliance?

Hi @magnusja - Great question! From a privacy standpoint we gather the consent to process, manage, and store biometric and identity information directly from the user during verification process. We also allow for data localization upon request. In that way we are covered from a GDPR/CCPA standpoint. We invest a lot in our infrastructure and internal processes to ensure we keep users data safe. We have a full red team, generous bug bounty program, and are in the final stages of our ISO270001 and SOCII certifications. Lastly, we're moving towards a more decentralized architecture over the coming months/quarters to ultimately give consumers control over their identity information in a self sovereign format.

@manuelz currently the database integrations are all controlled by our API and we do not have any direct integrations. You can use our Zapier app to connect our API with a variety of services. We've seen Passbase connect to Hubspot, Google Sheets, Firebase, and a bunch of other services that way.

Hi @katyabachrouche! The primary use case we see in ecomm right now is securing the purchase of age restricted products, however, once someone is verified we make facial biometric check easily available. In this way you can use a face as a 2FA right in the checkout process!
