Hi ProductHunt! Jae from PathBase here. πŸ™‹β€β™‚ I am very excited to launch "How do I learn this?", a tool that helps you instantly discover the best resources on the web to master any skill. πŸŽ“ Unlike anything else on the market, our tool generates an end-to-end plan to truly master skills by recommending top resources that help you both learn and improve. πŸš€ ❓ Why build this? As someone who just completed a career pivot, I found the "planning" phase very obscure & frustrating. In fact, there were many around me that started to learn a new skill, got stuck in what to do next, and dropped off. Seeing all this unrealized potential frustrated me, especially since I know firsthand how powerful learning just a few complementary skills can be for one's career. The tool's goal is to make the process easier and help more people advance in their careers. About the launch Though the product is technically still in Beta, I wanted to launch this early to incorporate feedback in real-time. πŸ”„ Here's a peek into upcoming features: 1. Tips & guides for portfolio/side projects 2. Wider Skill coverage for "skill-improving resources" (i.e. the stuff you do after courses) 3. More learning providers Is there anything else missing? What are your first impressions? Can't wait to hear your thoughts! 😁

@sarahsemark and @harsh_gelda - the Firefox compatibility bug has been squashed. Now the app is fully functional on Firefox! πŸ› Thank you again for raising the issue πŸ‘
Harsh Gelda
@jae_beom_bae sorry bud, but I just used it after going through your remark, and I'm pretty sure it's still having some issues on Firefox. PS: I'm using a PC, is that the problem...?
Jae Beom Bae
@harsh_gelda Hmm perhaps it's a Browser version thing (just tested again on Firefox and it was fine on my end)... I'll look into the issue log to see what's up. Apologies for that!
Harsh Gelda
Thanks a TON! This is totally Awesome!!!! It does deserve more attention than it is getting rn. The Interface's not working properly though. What's with the white screen on Firefox?
Jae Beom Bae
@harsh_gelda Thank YOU a ton!! πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ This means a whole lot and really appreciate the feedback. For some weird reason Firefox is the only browser that's tripping... But I'm on the case right now, and will let you know as soon as this is resolved! In the meanwhile, please use another browser. πŸ™ Lmk if you have any more thoughts!

Neat idea! It might be a good call to have some suggested paths, in case people aren't sure ("popular skills"), or to suggest complementary skills (ie, I'm currently a ______. What do I learn next?", or just categories. This may provide a bit more value than the logos, which don't really tell the learner a great deal up front, but have very high prominence. Also, it doesn't seem to work in Firefoxβ€”the screen loads for a second, but then went totally blank. πŸ˜”

@sarahsemark Thanks a ton for this awesome feedback! πŸ™Œ Here are my thoughts: 1. Let me get back to you in a few minutes with the "popular skills" feature added in...! 2. I will bump "complementary skills" up the todo list as I definitely see can see its use case. 3. Need to noodle a bit on the "categories", but I think putting these on the landing page will be helpful (especially for ppl who want to discover what to learn next) - will reach out once I get a first cut! 4. Firefox Issue - Ugh... thought I had figured this out. Looking into it now...! (sorry for the inconvenience 😣) In the meanwhile, please lmk if you have any further thoughts!

@sarahsemark How does this look for "popular skills"?

@jae_beom_bae ❀️ This is great! Definitely helps my browsing spirit. There are a lot of options here, so you _might_ want to consider grouping them by category a bitβ€”I bet you could split these into three columns (maybe "Code", "Data", and "Product".... or "People", "Product", "Process" even?) and have it be even easier to follow, or maybe use icons or colour-coding to differentiate a little further between the available options.
Jae Beom Bae
@sarahsemark Excellent suggestion - will see what I can get done on the categorization front. Thought this would be better than nothing in the meanwhile πŸ˜…, but stay tuned for the update πŸ₯
