Thanks for sharing, Matthew. Hello everyone, I’m one of the Cofounders and Lead Developer for Pathwright. Four years ago, before Udemy, Skillshare, MOOCs, or iTunesU existed, we launched Pathwright to enable anyone to teach and sell online courses under their own brand. Since then, online courses have become mainstream and our team has grown 3X, bootstrapping the whole way. Now we’re very excited to announce Pathwright 2. It’s a totally different approach to learning compared to traditional “Learner Management Systems” (LMS) or the newer category of course-authoring/commerce platforms. A few notable differences to check out in Pathwright 2: * It's all about the people: With Pathwright 2, our primary goal was to put people first on every screen. * More like an app than a website: Learning and teaching is an active process (like an app) not just a passive experience of consumption (like a website or shopping catalog). Pathwright 2 works more like an app and on any screen size. * Radar: As a teacher, you can literally see where everyone is in your learning path. * Community: We built discussion features designed specifically for learning and teaching, not just a tacked on forum or comment stream. * Environment: There’s something about a beautiful campus or library that creates a desire to learn in itself. Unfortunately most education software is boring and generic. Our goal with Pathwright 2 was to create a uniquely beautiful learning experience that also gives a unique sense of place and wonder to every learning experience. * Create projects, assessments, sell subscriptions, and so much more... I and my other cofounder (and evil twin) @paul_johnson are here to answer any of your questions! P.S. bonus points to whoever can find the easter eggs 😉
Gianna Scatchell
@wmdmark @paul_johnson Checking this out now! Quick question - who designed your homepage - I am looking for a more interactive one for my start-up.
Mark Johnson
@giannascatchell Hi Gianna, we did all the design and development in house!

@paul_johnson Great product! Loved the landing page. What technology stack are you guys using? :)
Ryan Hoover
The landing page is adorable. 😻
Dylan Buckley
@rrhoover Agreed. That is beautifully crafted. So amazing to see people still putting a lot of time into making truly outstanding products like that.
Andy Beaumont
@rrhoover the landing page is unusable on an iPad. Which is a shame, it doesn't fill me with confidence about the care for usability and accessibility in the product.
Mark Johnson
@drcongo Hi Andy, sorry about that! We're about to deploy a few fixes for the issues you're experiencing on your iPad. I can assure you that the web app itself works great on the iPad, we just have more work to do on this announcement page. Thanks for chiming in!
Jay Harris
@drcongo The landing page works fine for me on iPhone and iPad. Desktop experience is definitely the 💣.
Andy Beaumont
@jhartist weird. I'm on a brand new, fully loaded iPad Pro and everything jumps about all over the place when I try to scroll.
Juho S
Very impressive and the PH intro page really sealed the deal. I) Next step should be a short animation before automatically moving to the next phase (now requires two clicks for some reason) II) Is there a possibility to include a link to existing tutorials shown in the intro page?
Paul Johnson
@juhslk thanks for the helpful feedback, Juho.

Wonderful design and product! What I don't understand is the pricing model - on face, it looks straight forward based on features and number of staff members, but there's this thing about the number of "learners" (or engaged learners) for each plan. Is there a fee per user? And if so, what's the pricing?
Paul Johnson
@webjoe Hi Joseph, thank you! Good question. There's a low fee for more engaged learners than are already included in a plan and that fee gets lower at higher volumes. At high volume, it's negotiable. You can see this by selecting a plan and using the "reserve more learners" option. Thanks again for the kind words and for the feedback.
Germán Castaño
The landing page is not just a great parallax example, it explains the product features in a fun way. The idea is great and offers a different perspective for learning for learners and teachers. Good job!! I'll try it
Mark Johnson
@germancastano thanks Germán, we had a lot of fun building it!
Garet McKinley
Wow, this is one of those few products that I can't help but comment on. Excellent work with the landing page and product 😍 I will definitely be adding this to my arsenal. This will make creating educational content enjoyable and painless.
Mark Johnson
@garetmckinley thank you Garet!
Garet McKinley
@wmdmark no, thank you for the amazing product! 👏🏻 I already registered my school and will begin setting up my first course this afternoon. I'll make sure to supply any feedback I have while using it 😸
Mark Johnson
@garetmckinley Awesome! We're glad to have you! Let us know if we can help with anything at all.
David Feng
Wonderful knowledge sharing platform for building fully customized courses for niche learning. Congrats on launching v2! @wmbmark @paul_johnson
Paul Johnson
@davidsfeng @wmbmark Thank you, David. Appreciate the kind words.

Great looking product. Sorry to barge in but I wanted to check if you guys have any discounting for non-profits? I manage tech for an non-profit based out of India Protsahan.co.in We are looking to build learning courses for the kids who work with us.
Paul Johnson
@taggy Hey Theyagarajan, thank you! And yes we do work with a lot of non-profits and offer discounts! Shoot us an email at hello@pathwright.com.

Congrats on part 2! I love this new approach. While seeking out a course builder or online school builder there are more than a few out there from self-hosted and built with WordPress to other similar to Pathwright like Teachable where everything is all-in-one kind of like a Squarespace experience. Problem is that I truly do care about the people (been in customer support for more than 4 years) and all of them seemed filled with features that focused on building the school or course and less on what goes on inside. That is until now with Pathwright 2! I just signed up and look forward to putting together a few courses.
Paul Johnson
@byderekj Hi Derek, thanks so much for the kind words. We're making Pathwright exactly for people like you who want to teach *people* not just publish a bunch of passive content to make passive income. Many of our educators make a very good living teaching but those also seem to be the ones that care the most about who they're teaching.
Mike Orren
Trying it out now for a management class we're running in our company. So far it's both feature-rich and simple. Team is very responsive too.
Mark Johnson
@mikeorren glad to have you on the platform, Mike!
Jay Harris
This is awesome. Pathwright is the best learning platform I've used, and the features in version 2 look amazing. Great job and beautiful landing page!
Paul Johnson
@jhartist thanks Jay!
Dean Yeong
Epic landing page! I'm a blogger and looking for a platform to create a course right now. This came by just at the right time. Gonna check it out. PS: Love the engagement and interaction features within the platform while most courses are run in closed door nowaday. Always wanted to build something with higher interaction and transparency.
Paul Johnson
@deanyeong thank you Dean, I'm glad you found us! Yes, exactly – there are too many courses out there that aren't much better than an online textbook. Not that that's all bad, but teaching/education is so much more than that!
Fong Kam Ling
Nice one! Well done! What we have for PopDQ app (Q&A format) is similar to yours as we believe in knowledge sharing too! I think that just like ours, getting a panel of key people (for us experts, and for you educators) would be key. It's indeed clever for you to put your people first, which very often is neglected. What's your thoughts?
Paul Johnson
@fong_kam_ling Thank you, Fong. I think the Q&A format is a great fundamental format for learning interaction that's often ignored.
Kevin McIntosh
Thanks. So I started my publishing my online courses on Brand Storytelling on Udemy; frustrated with their extreme discounting of my courses, I moved all the courses to Teachable; then pulled them from there an moved to Thinkific as it offers everything from pricing control to instant payment to course control. So can you please share with us what Pathwright 2 might offer that would make me consider it versus Thinkfic? Thank you.
Paul Johnson
@kevin_mcintosh wow, sounds like a frustrating experience Kevin, I'm sorry you've gone through all that. Pathwright is focused primarily on creating a personal, fun, and deep learning and teaching experience. We're aiming to create the best tool for thoughtful, creative educators whether they're selling courses or not. From my point of view, the services you mentioned are more focused on helping people who want to publish a course and make money with it in a more passive way than what is traditionally called "teaching." We'd think of that as more authoring/publishing which is great, but not primarily where we're headed. While we have many educators (and big brands like Allrecipes Cooking School) who make lots of money on Pathwright, I think that's more of a by-product of how well they teach and how well they communicate the value of what they're teaching publicly than the platform they're on.
Gianni D'Alerta
@paul_johnson @kevin_mcintosh that is an interesting spin on it. Where brands can provide free courses, content marketing.
Rob Bajor
This product has a fantastic UI. I'm curious what direction they plan on going with this product, there seems to be a lot of potential here. I'm also curious how learning science will impact the course developer options.
Paul Johnson
@misterbajor Thank you! Our plan is to continue to make Pathwright the education tool of choice for thoughtful, creative educators of all types. To do that, understanding and adapting to the science and art of teaching is essential. Half of our team are current or former teachers (from K12 - university level) and we're fortunate to have customers who are some of the most thoughtful, creative educators out there.
.hj barraza
I created a course and was about to pay, but then realized that I can't host my videos with you guys. That means I need to pay for an additional service, like Vimeo Pro or Wistia. That's a deal breaker, specially when teachable already includes unlimited content upload and unlimited students. Other than that, I really loved your solution.
Mark Johnson
@hjbarraza We hear you. We've got video hosting on our roadmap and hope to have it integrated soon!
Matt Mazzeo
Really dig the vision here! Congrats on the launch team.
Mark Johnson
@mazzeo Thank you, Matt!
Cody McLain
