πŸ‘‹ Hey, Dhruv here, co-founder Obvious (https://obvious.in) . We've built and strategised for the biggest names (and unicorns) in Southeast Asia, including Wikipedia, GoJek, Myntra, Dunzo, and Swiggy. But today, we're launching our first-ever homegrown product, Pause, that solves a problem that's intimate to any startup or remote team. Thanks @kevin for the hunt! With remote teams, there's no end to the tools we can use to be more efficient, productive, motivated... you get the drill. But time-off tools are almost always an afterthought β€” that is, until information gaps and unplanned absences wreak havoc on project plans. πŸ€” The problem When you use all-in-one HR tools and spreadsheet hacks, some pretty hair-raising stuff happens: - When applying for time off is complicated, teams don't take a break - You lose track of who's in and who's out, and plans start to suffer - Overworked teammates start feeling burnt out and unhappy more often than usual - Too many features overwhelm your team and the pricing makes you cry These scarily common problems hamper the well-being of high-autonomy teams. We've been there β€” and so had our beta testers, who came back with fantastic responses after using Pause. Which brings us to... πŸ’‘ The solution Pause is team-first, anti-burnout and pro-recharging. 🀝 Why your leadership will love Pause: - Immediate and long-term visibility into teams' availability - 'Lock dates' to mark critical project days - Powerful Slack and Calendar integrations - Clear leave policies to promote transparency - Concise leave records, all in one place - Startup-friendly pricing and no hidden charges πŸ’ͺ Why your team will love Pause: - 3-click application processes and 1-click approval - Burnout alerts in case of long gaps between vacation days - Instant notifications of teammates on a break on Slack - Birthday, work anniversary and public holiday alerts - Dedicated Slack bot to book time off and check vacation balance - Automatic 🌴 'away' emoji on Slack as a universal DND signal We want Pause to become a front-runner of new-age software that puts team happiness, productivity and well-being first. This is super cool! Loved the video πŸ‘πŸΌ Would definitely be giving it a shot for our team. A quick question, any plans on supporting other comms app anytime soon? Say like a Zoho Cliq?
Sindhu Shivaprasad
@undermyhood Hi, thanks so much for commenting! We'd be happy to walk you through Pause, so do get in touch if you'd like to book a demo: https://getpause.com/pricing/ As of now, we don't have concrete plans to support other communication apps but our newsletter mailing list will be the first to know if we do: http://eepurl.com/hzDS_H 😊

@suhasmotwani Thank you πŸ™ 😊
Sharath Kuruganty
Didn't realize time-off is a this big of a problem. Nicely executed guys! What are your next steps? Curious to know what's on your roadmap.
Vishwanath
@5harath Thank you Sharath πŸ˜€Yes we've been discovering the depth of the time-off problem for ourselves too! As we launch we're working towards enabling not just a remote team but a global team across nations. We're always looking to push what's possible with integrations so people don't need to switch tools any more than they already need to. And long term, we'd love to explore the team culture, and team planning spaces to see what is possible :) Would love to know your thoughtsβ€”how do you see this space changing in the next 2-5 years?
Vishwanath
@5harath Also I must add, I loved your website and I loved the work you've done in the community space πŸ’›

Amazing job on the launch!! I'm sure it must've been a hell of a ride. Right after hearing about what Pause does - it seems like an absolute no-brainer (almost Obvious πŸ˜‰), for all companies and orgs to have. After seeing what's possible, all the old ways seem crazy! Beyond the obvious, going through the website and seeing all the features accounted for really gives one insight into the insane amount of research, thought and love that has gone behind this product. And with such a stellar founding team coupled with your years of exp as an agency, I can't wait to see Pause get adopted far and wide πŸ€—πŸ˜€πŸ”₯ PS- The video is *chefs kiss*
N Chandrasekhar Ramanujan
@anshuman_dhar Hey Anshuman, really appreciate what you've shared 😊 - we're really excited too, and given the reception we're getting now, we are convinced that we can provide a lot of value and help solve an important problem a lot of teams and startups are struggling with. As for the video - big hat-tip to @sindhushivaprasad, @vishwanath_p and @elson_ds for putting it together.
Dhruv Saxena
@anshuman_dhar thank you for your very kind words :)
Akk+hill
Awesome idea and wonderful explanatory video ( who is behind this) ?
Sindhu Shivaprasad
@oyeakhil Thank you so much! It was a team effort but in particular, a hat tip to @elson_ds and @vishwanath_p for the outstanding visuals πŸ…
Kanika Tibrewala
@oyeakhil Pause is Obvious' (www.obvious.in) brainchild, after running a consultancy for almost a decade. We're glad you loved the video! We had 3 of our best working on it πŸŽ‰
Shradha R
Congratulations on the launch! Super interesting product and love the video :)
Vishwanath
@shradhar Thank you πŸ™‡We're glad to hear that! We hope you take it for a spin and we look forward to hearing from you about your experience 😊
N Chandrasekhar Ramanujan
@shradhar Thanks Shradha! Really appreciate the wishes :-)
Carlo Thissen
100% signed. Love the calendar and Slack integrations already. Do you plan to integrate into Notion? We're communicating planning topics more and more on there while Slack is more lightweight comms.
N Chandrasekhar Ramanujan
@carlo_thissen Thanks so much Carlo! With the amount of digital tools people have to use now, one of the things we focussed heavily on is so people don’t need to switch tools any more than they need to, Much like how easy it is to use tl;dv without having to think about it. Both our products are also based on a very similar philosophy that the current software we have just doesn't work for new ways of working enabled by remote teams. I'm glad you find the integrations useful - and we're taking more suggestions that people might have! A notion integration is a fantastic idea and we'll take a look into the API and complexity to see if we can add it to our roadmap! We'd be grateful if you could tell us a little more about how you currently plan with Notion, and how you'd like to bring Pause data into it!
Bogdan Ionita
Congrats guys! It looks easy to use
Vishwanath
@bogdan_ionita Thank you Bogdan 😊 It is among the simplest to use, if we so ourselves πŸ™ˆ It was one of our core principles right up there with making healthy teams possible much like Mirro's focus on healthy team feedback! Do take Pause for a spin, we'd love to hear what you think!
Dipin Chopra
Congrats on the launch!
N Chandrasekhar Ramanujan
@dipinchopra Thanks Dipin! Appreciate this
Ryan Hoover
I love the simplicity and focus of the product but does this ultimately become a feature of broader HR management software like Gusto?
Dhruv Saxena
@rrhoover there are a few tools in the space that have survived, maybe because a lot of startups like to keep things simple for long as they can and they don't need a lot of features, just a few well thought out ones. Everyone takes about 10-15% of their work year as time off and smart businesses that'd like to treat that time with care will hopefully see the value in Pause. Thanks for your question πŸ˜…. It is one of those that does make us worry a little but we're hopeful that Pause will survive 🀞
Vishwanath
@rrhoover @dhruvraisaxena To add to it, it's a question we've asked ourselves as we built Pause. We see that HR functions are interdependent, like payroll on time-off on performance appraisal. But they also need to walk a thin line that balances culture and compliance. With Pause, we've tried to lean towards the culture part of that line, which in many ways can be very company-specific and fluid especially in the early to mid-stages. That's where we're hoping Pause as a thin slice HR tool is able to stay light while connecting back to an HR tool for compliance aspects. Hopefully, as @dhruvraisaxena mentioned, we'll be here to stay :)
