Pavlok is one of my favorite hardware startups. the shock alarm function is the best alarm clock that i've ever used: https://www.producthunt.com/post...

@_jacksmith You are my favorite, Jack
Brandon Larson
@_jacksmith did you say..... "shock alarm"???? dear lord you did. How did I not know about this wonderfully... wait... shock alarm. Why not just have it emit bacon smells?
Maneesh Sethi
@brandon_larson @_jacksmith Jack doesn't wake up to simple alarms. Jack is one of our power users who really needed help waking up. You can see what I mean in our blog post: https://pavlok.com/blog/jack-s-u...

So why a new crowdfunding campaign for the second version?
Maneesh Sethi
@bentossell Hiya! The reason why was to find out from our users what they want the most. For example, when we ran the campaign, we focused on the waking up --- the product was called Rise. We find that crowdfunding helps us really find out what the market wants. We actually had to pivot our entire campaign after launching --- you can read the story about the pivot here: https://www.wareable.com/crowdfu...

@bentossell Probably because things didn't go so well on Shark Tank :)
Kidding aside, I'm a fan of Maneesh and interested in what this next version will bring.

Hi there! I'm Maneesh Sethi, the founder of Pavlok. Five years ago, I hired someone on Craigslist to follow me around, and slap me in the face when I got off task. I ended up writing 5 months of work in 5 days. I thought to myself --- "slapping doesn't scale -- but maybe a wearable dog zapper could!" So I decided to build Pavlok, a wearable device that uses vibration, beep, and zap to reward you for good habits and stop you from doing bad ones. We discovered that the zap was an EXTREMELY powerful tool to reduce cravings, stop bad habits, and wake people up early. In the last 18 months, we've rebuilt Pavlok from the ground up. Here are some of the big changes. 1) Way slimmer design with a bunch of accessories 2) Pavlok 2 *knows* when you do bad habits. We can track motions, gestures, online habits, and GPS. It can vibrate, beep, or zap to keep you aware and help train your habits. 3) Pavlok 2 has a bunch of sensations -- not just vibrate/beep/zap. Now you can send vibrating heart beats, or sine waves, or 8-bit music 4) Pavlok 2's remote control is way enhanced --- so you and your wife (or accountability partner) can communicate and send sensations to each other, and hold each other accountable 5) New 'App store interface' --- where you can unlock new apps, and developers can release their own too! like http://pavlok.com/zappybird and 6) Pavlok Rise is our newest app -- about forming *positive* habits. Focused on forming morning routines of the greats, like Einstein or Franklin (pavlok.com/rise) . I'm excited to announce this --- I believe Pavlok 2 will help change 100,000 habits in the next year. Thanks for being awesome :)

@Frinkeldoodle wanted to post this comment but couldnt: "I hardly find it shocking that Pavlok 2 has found itself buzzing with activity enough to wind up on a website such as this, especially with the new surge of activity it seems to be receiving from the Indiegogo. I find the concept of apps being able to integrate programs with the Pavlok 2, along with gesture detection, a pretty electric concept, especially if executed right, and the videos displaying these new features feel charged with energy and emotion. I'm looking to get one, and hopefully it'll help give that jolt I've been needing to cut my overeating habits short, and electrify a desire to work out on my own."
Frinkeldoodle
@maneesh Oh hey, now I can comment! Also, I was pretty shocked you actually responded to my Facebook Messenger message, and as quickly as you did. Figured it'd just kinda sit there without anyone looking ^^"

Love these guys, was speaking at a Google Dev conference, saw them, heard audible shocks, and I had to try their product. I tried a very early version but already then it was an amazing device. I hope you created lower tier shock settings! Great name too. Congrats!

I am looking forward to the updated pavlok. I watched maneesh's webinar about the new version and I feel this will be a great success.

Gesture detection for nail biting would be a huge win!
Maneesh Sethi
@b3bold Absolutely! It's working pretty well :)
Adam Moisa
@b3bold That's exactly what I'm buying this for. No more of that horrible bitter nail polish. Habit comes right back after I finish the bottle.
Maneesh Sethi
@adammoisa @b3bold When you combine the two, you get some magical superpowers

Looks great! but a very confusing flow for preordering Pavlok 2. I gave up. How do I buy your product? I was lead to indiegogo and then back again. Please .. take my money πŸ˜„
Bud Hennekes
@jespersiger Hey Jesper! We're so stoked you want to be a part of the Pavlok family! :) Would you mind elaborating on what specifically was confusing you? We'd be happy to get you taken care of. -Bud / Content at Pavlok
Jesper Henriksen
@aboundlessworld I might be slightly retarded since I can't figure it out but on your homepage I can only get pavlok 1 + 2 and if I want to get pavlok 2 I am lead to Indiegogo .. where I simply can't seem to find the button for preordering only the pavlok 2 .
Maneesh Sethi
@jespersiger Hi! You can order Pavlok 2 at indiegogo. To get both, with a special discount, go here: http://pavlok.com/pav2bundle

AI coach + gesture detection sounds awesome. Finally it will know when I'm doing my habit, no more having to press the button myself!
