Let's get back to simple photo sharing with no ads, no fancy algorithms. Let's follow collections instead of users to control the content we see. It's eventually $1/mo but signing up now gets you in for free.
We need a simple, back-to-basics photo sharing app. We're all tired of ads, tired of algorithms, tired of being spied on. We just want to be able to share some photos with some friends.
We built Pine because Instagram doesn't work anymore. But it's not enough to just make an old skool IG and call it a day. We take a lot more photos these days and we think putting them in collections is the key to how we want to see and share them.
With Pine, you follow collections instead of users which means you get to control the kind of content you see. For example, you want to see your friends' family pics but don't care for their food pics. Just follow their "Family" collections and you don't ever need to see their food photos again.
Pine will stay ad-free and we're going to eventually charge a subscription fee but since it's still early days and we want your feedback, it's completely free for life if you join now.
We've got a lot of features coming soon but we'd love to hear your feedback. Drop us a comment and let us know how you think we can make this even better!
@dzuy Looks really slick. I downloaded it and it was fairly simple to register and get going.
It is the sort of simplicity that Instagram used to be and was famous for in its better days and that is a huge selling point for it.
However, I am curious how you intend to create enough revenue to operate as I can see you hitting financial limits pretty quickly if it took off, and a subscription model would turn Pine into more of a Google Photos app than an Instagram app which would be popular but would make it a totally different proposition to Instagram.
I am looking forward to seeing how this develops into a successful business. Good luck with it.
