Interesting product. I've taken the time to feedback and respond to people, as I think it is somewhat valuable, however from my usage just now having a single feedback on a pitch as "lame" is actually quite negative and not really what I think it is intended for of course. Not sure there is any way to moderate around that sort of thing, however.
Excellent idea. This would make a really addictive mobile app! Two things I might add: (1.) A 'Skip' button so I'm not forced to choose either yup or nope to move on to the next idea. (2.) After choosing a Yup, a “I'd buy this” button would be immensely helpful to the idea creator. Too often, makers only look at Yes and No votes for determining the efficacy of our ideas, but, as Justin Vincent wrote in his post (http://j.mp/ideaff1) it's crucial to weight feedback from potential customers above feedback from people who aren't your target audience. If I post a pitch on Pitchcard, I'd love love LOVE to also have a way for potential customers to express their opinion that they'd love to buy this, a way for that feedback to filter higher to me above other feedback, and best of all, an easy way for those potential customers to signal that I can contact them. Anyway... cool app! Best of luck!
This founder did a great job with outreach. Hustler.
I don't like the product, but I'd bet on the founder all day long to figure it out. Good sales hustle.
The problem with invoked feedback is that it has Hawthorne Effect written all over it.
I think you should try to aim for pseudorandom feedback from the actual customer audience.
The viewers shouldn't know that you're behind the product, they should lack any sort of context, this is how you surface true unadultered opinion. For example "Hey Joey, I was thinking about investing in this idea... this company out of Finland does X."
the feedback you'll get back is far more critical and true.
Good idea. I find that 200 characters are not enough to explain the problem *and* the solution.
This limit forces you to pick one or the other, resulting on a problem with no solution, or a solution with no context. A cap at ~350 would be better.
(e.g : https://www.pitchcard.io/c/SytvHPtP )
@theoblochet thanks for your feedback! We believe that every good idea needs to be pitched in 2–3 sentences. And this is only possible if you exactly know what the goal of your idea is. This limit makes people get to the point. Think about it as an advertising, there you have a few chars as well 😁
@susu__garcia sure, it can work. But a framework where you can talk about *problem* and *solution* would be great. You might be right : I deleted my original pitch and wrote it a few times over, and managed to fit it within 2 or 3 sentences :)
@susu__garcia@theoblochet I felt it's very restricting as well. Any ideas should describe the problem it is solving. 200 chars is not enough to describe the problem & the idea IMO.
@selvagsz@theoblochet i see your point but if we allow very long descriptions, users won't read and interact with it as much as they do with short descriptions.
It would be really helpful, If I can have a metrics report of downvotes and upvotes across the site, then, I can easily measure my idea is good enough for me.
I like it and wish we could have an app for it instead of a responsive website. , I think it could be great to get the stats about the upvotes or downvotes once you express yourself about an idea.
Love the product. Just one question, it seems that it's necessary for me to either upvote/downvote every card that pops up. It might help to have a skip button too ? for the neutrals. I might not always like/dislike the idea but would have to click either to see more ideas.
@_bigblind for now, you just can contact the other person if there is a help offer, not on feedback. We'll have a look into this, because in your case it would be very useful.
@lailo_ch Another issue at the moment, is that just a vote count can be tricky to interpret. I got 48 upvotes, and 44 downvotes. To what extent do the people who like it, like it, and why do the people who dislike it, dislike it? I only got one piece of feedback, which is a question about how it works. I created my card hours ago, so I can't edit it to answer that question for future viewers. Would it be a good idea to archive this card, and try to create a new one with an improved description? Is that the kind of iterative process you want to encourage?
@_bigblind We discussed a lot about the edit functionality. The conclusion about it was, that we added a 15min time window to fix small typos. In your case, the description seems to not explain the idea good enough (feedback as questions). So you might need to archive this card and publish a new one with a description which answers the questions inside the feedback.
Do you think there is a better way to solve this problem?
Love it. Great idea. Have you guys considered adding a reddit/PH-like list view where users can upvote and downvote ideas? The cards are great, but it would be nice to see multiple ideas at a glance...
@tomstocklein we are working on this but the big challenge is that you need title and a long description to be able to vote. If we show all this information at once, people will get a bit lost in too much information. But no worries, we will find a solution ☺️
Love the concept of Pitchcard. I pitched my first card, received some feedback but it doesn't look like I can respond to the feedback (am I missing something?). It would be great to be able to respond to feedback in order to converse and develop the idea.
Congrats @lailo_ch and @susu__garcia. It was a very pleasant experience using the service.
I really liked the card experience, very clean and simple. I would liked the homepage to give some more information though. I think if I hadn't visit from PH, where I already got some info, it would have been somewhat difficult to understand what to expect from the service. Also I think on the bottom of the page you should include both Pitch Now and Start Exploring. For me as an Explorer it was weird that after clicking Skills in "How it works" the final call to action is Pitch Now. I am glad you took a lot of feedback here on how to further develop the service so I am going to point out just a couple of minor bugs I encountered:
- I clicked Send Feedback and was required to login. After login I ended up on another card
- After login I got 3-4 repeated cards
Keep up the good work :-)
Cool. Was considering building something like this, now I don't have to :) I've seen a a few things like this cropping up recently... GoDaddy's Flare app, hatchli, etc.
