I created this app to show to what political canidates employees of companies donate money to, this in-end shows the politics of a company. I hope that Pocket Politics helps you make a better consumer and helps you start voting with your pocket.
This is so stupid. It doesn’t even list why each company is characterized as in a specific part of the spectrum. The consumer is expected to buy “from his own team” because a random guy decided that a company os slightly liberal or moderately conservative? I like how Nike Inc. is liberal because it makes commercials appealing to progressives. I’m sure the slave labour they are famous for using find them to be very liberal. This is so stupid I’m astounded.
@danhrahal By logging into your Pocket Politics or creating a new account you can actually see why a company is rated the way it is. We only use data to calculate the political view of a company, there is no options applied to the score. The reason why Nike is liberal is because over 70% of all donations from Nike and Nike Employees go to liberal candidates, which you can see after you sign in. I hope you take a closer look at the data so you can understand why this is. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I created this app after I started to notice how politically motivated companies are. Some very popular companies that I had supported in the past have made political decisions that I did not personally agree with. Because of this, I stopped buying their products. This proved very challenging as they made many products I used, but I ended up being able to find alternatives for all those products. I wanted to create an app that made it easier for consumers to buy from companies that supported the same political ideas they do. I hope you like it!
@sheikhanon Pocket Politics is a way to search your favorite companies and see their how they political spend money. Search a company or click a company on the home page then you can view their political spending's. If you create an account and login you can see more detailed information about the company. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Really like this idea, but I think the value of this approach is limited. I hope your MVP is validated and you are able/ motivated to go deeper. As a user, I would be more compelled by issue-specific scorecards than overall Rep v Dem contributions. Environmental scores, labor practices, civil rights, etc. The ideal, in my opinion, is being able to set my preferences based on my values and then getting a breakdown of companies along those dimensions. Clearly a more difficult data set to produce, but you are tackling a very difficult subject.
At any rate, good luck!
