A super simple business modeling software that I KNOW all my founder friends will love.
Tom Frazier
Looks powerful because of the simplicity. Great work!

This would have helped 6 years ago for sure. Excel is a time suck at first.
Brandon Crossley
@tayloramiles would love your feedback on what else you'd like to see :)
Britanny Carter
Such a great idea! Beautiful UI as well
Brandon Crossley
Thank you for the kind words @britcarter!
Stuart
Looks slick. But is it just for SaaS products or could it work for any service?
Luke Edward Ollett
@vacord we have seen people writing a book use it to validate their idea, we have seen artists investigate different sales/marketing strategies, an e-bike vendor... really if you have customers/buyers/users and some form of revenue, Poindexter will work.
Brandon Crossley
@vacord Hey Stuart, thanks for the kind words. Poindexter works for a majority of most business models selling products and services. We did our best to focus on transaction type, instead of the specific product or service.

I love how the video narration skips over the 50% churn entered, lol!

Wow this product is simple and sweet. Perfect timing for startup idea stage! YouTube explainer videos are very well done also. Nice work Brandon! Oh we signin up!
Jitesh Chhabria
Brilliant product! Thanks!

Very nice UI. Looking at the revenue assumptions is it possible to designate revenue per client instead of per month? This could give a "better" picture of the impact of increasing your revenue per client versus increasing the number of clients you have or some combination of the two. Instead of (unless I am missing an option) the increase in number of clients not really having a impact on Revenue generation.
Brandon Crossley
@claritycohq that's a great question. You could definitely do this, but it would require a slightly more creative way of using the product. For instance, what I would imagine doing is setting up individual "Manual" Acquisition models that represent each client and forecast a transaction for each month / or period you would expect to bill them, and on the revenue page you could input customer specific revenue models, and adjust them each individually. Does that answer your question? If not I, I may be misunderstanding what you're going for, but this should be very doable. I'd be happy to troubleshoot the issue over email, or set up some time to chat.
kpaustia
@brandularity Is the best way to reach you through the contact option in Pointdexter?
Brandon Crossley
@claritycohq Yup, that'll go directly to me.
Sean P McCoy
Hey Brandon, awesome product! How did you come up with the idea?
Brandon Crossley
@spmccoy88 Hey, thanks Sean! I've worked with a number of startups, and the process of creating financial projections was always a pain, so we built an easier way.
Daniel Sim
Great idea! Unusable on mobile (Chrome / S6)
Brandon Crossley
Thanks @daniel_sim! Unfortunately, our bootstrapping funds didn't cover mobile responsiveness :( We hope to get it in the works soon though!
John Fowler
Nice looking product. Strange that when I went to sign up it said my email already exists :S
Brandon Crossley
@steerj92 Thanks John, that is quite strange... and slightly embarrassing for us 😳. I'm available via live chat on the site if you'd like to have me take care of it.

Hey Hunters! I’m the CEO and Co-Founder of Poindexter. We built this product because we believe you shouldn't have to be an MBA to plan and manage your business finances with confidence. Poindexter is 10x faster than modeling in spreadsheets, and you don’t have to worry about making mistakes creating any equations. Our goal was to build a simple plug-and-play platform that any modern entrepreneur could use to quickly generate insights about their planned activities. Just input a few assumptions and Poindexter automatically generates a performance dashboard and full financial statements. We’re very excited to hear what you all have to say (good, bad or ugly), and we’ll be answering any questions as quickly as possible. If you end up liking what we’ve built, please feel free to share it with your friends and colleagues as we’ve bootstrapped it this far, and I really don’t want to have to sell my car ;)

It's a great product, with the brief time I spent on I wish this were there when I first started planning my projections. Also, it would be awesome if you also had a virtual walkthrough as part of it, there were some parts I was struggling to bring up the popups on what the boxes meant!

I’ll be honest, this isn’t my first time trying to start a business. Last time I tried learning how to create financial projections for my home health care business it took me six months to figure out how to organize, categorize, and put together the formulas necessary to present a very, very, humble looking projection. This application allowed me to do all of that and more in under FOUR HOURS!! In four hours, I had an Income Statement, Customer Acquisition channels, and Yearly Performance projections, half of which I didn’t even know about until I started entering costs and revenue projections (it was pretty easy to learn as you went along). If you’re serious about starting a business and throwing together costs and expected revenue to see if you’ve got a shot at succeeding without needing to spend a year mastering the art of Excel-fu, you NEED to use Poindexter. It will save you tons of time and headache!
