Hey Product Hunt!
I'm Stanley Lim and I'm the developer of Polarity Browser.
This project was inspired from my desire to learn more about programming and the numerous complaints from others stating that most browsers tend to use too much RAM these days, even for simple tasks.
I am well aware that there are many browsers that have already been released, mostly Chrome and Firefox clones in the past few years. However, my goal with Polarity is to provide a web browsing experience that doesn't consume large amounts of memory when not in use without limiting on the feature set of the browser. According to our own benchmarks (http://polarity.x10.mx/compare) and ZDNet Belgium's benchmarks (http://www.zdnet.be/download/181...), you can see that Polarity uses quite less memory than the other browsers out there.
Polarity also takes extra steps to improve the battery life on laptops including tab pausing to pause inactive tabs after a user set duration, night mode (great for those with OLED screens), gif blocking, and other settings to toggle what elements should be loaded on the page such as images, plugins, and JavaScript.
For privacy, Polarity gives the user the option to connect to a VPN or a proxy of his or her choice. It also comes with the option to enable ad blocking powered by Privoxy (http://www.privoxy.org/), mask header information sent, and block scripts.
These are just some of the thing that Polarity can do and I hope you will give it a shot. I would really appreciate some feedback as to what could be changed, fixed, and improved. Polarity would not be here today without the feedback of users. Please contact us at http://polarityweb.weebly.com/co... or @polaritybrowser on Twitter.
