I love The Economist. But finding certain articles for research or reference is hard. So I had to build a better tool that allows exploring their content better. More about why and how, check this article: > https://medium.com/@yvoschaap/bu... Some personal favorites for exploring The Economist articles: > Most popular Obituary https://yvoschaap.com/economist/... > Recent Cover Stories https://yvoschaap.com/economist/... > Economist Theory Explained https://yvoschaap.com/economist/... Using: - @algolia's Instantsearch.js for the UX building blocks. - OpenCalais for semantic entity extraction. You do need a subscription to The Economist to access the content. Works best on desktop, mobile needs some work.

This is awesome! It's great that you can filter by region or section to make articles easier to find.

@mrandydavis as-in you agree their search didn't work for you as well?

Finally! Finding things I've read on the Economist is such a pain.

This should be what the homepage of every newspaper and magazine looks like.

As a former Media co-founder, getting News search right is SO hard. This is a great implementation!

This would be awesome if it were only 5 years ago, when The Economist was way way better. @yvoschaap

@elizabethhunker just filter out the articles published after 2011: https://yvoschaap.com/economist/... ;)

Cool project! One question: did you put the whole content of the articles in Algolia or just a summary?
Yvo Schaap
@nico_lrx only the titles and thumbnail! Exactly what is already available if you look at a print edition in their archive.

The Economist has the worst digital design and strategy in the history of major publications. They should pay you royalties.
