Everyone's moving to HTTPS these days. Because it's more secure, because Google favors SSL websites, because anyone can get a free SSL certificate these days etc. etc. But if one of your pages contains an embedded resource (script, image, css file) with an non-secure absolute address - users will start seeing scary warnings and error popups in their browsers.
