@jamie_sprowl I dig the new extension, it’s been seamless for me thus far.
My only feedback is having the ability to hide or edit (say, replace with quick links), the Most Visited section.
@jamie_sprowl I love New Tab extensions. That’s how we started building MicroMove.io, but just changed it to a “normal” extension! Congratulations on the launch :)

I've been using this extension exclusively for new tab for years. And it was very useful. Basically, every day I was checking to see new products and I was using the small arrow in the top right corner to go directly to the product site. Now this possibility is gone and I can only access the producthunt page of the product. I do understand the reasoning behind removing the direct links - directing more traffic to producthunt - but I now lack a functionality that was very efficient and I will probably not use it that much anymore. Just being forced to open producthunt to access product page kinda sucks.
@webmyc hey Mihai - appreciate that you left us some helpful feedback. I wanted to let you know we just implemented a change that allows you to go directly to products since we missed that on our original release. Hope it's helpful. :)

loving it, this extension has been my blank tab by default on chrome for years and I am in awe of this update
hey @adigold1 - it's not possible to switch between old and new. We fixed a lot in terms of functionality, so think this version is a major improvement overall. Anything specifically about the design we could consider to make it more desirable for you?
@jamie_sprowl I would be extremely happy if you could at least bring back the 'Direct Link' icon, which would allow me to jump directly to the product website without going through the product hunt page.
@adigold1 just got the direct link added back! Appreciate you pointing out that we missed it on our first release.
I was going to uninstall the new version until I came here and saw there's a list view. By default, the grid view is not something I wanted due to large images and suboptimal way of using the area, but never thought it would be configurable.
Would love this as an Arc extension! I use Arc as my main browser but would love someway to get Product Hunt in my flow there.
The most visited section on the left needs to go. Or at least it needs a setting to display it or not.
I am also with some of the other comments about the need to see a 3 column layout.
@steveparrynz cool idea for making the most visited section customizable/collapsible. Will think about this more!
I really liked the old product hunt tab. This one looks nice, but it's not functional like the last one. I liked the 3 columns view. Any chance you could allow people to go back to the old view?
hey @alecdewitz - appreciate the feedback, but since we've replaced the old one there's no way to flip between old and new. There were some major issues with the last one, but understand everyone has different preferences and get used to certain layouts. Anything we could think about doing to enhance the current version that would make it better for you? Hope you noticed you can change card view to list view in the settings. :)
@jamie_sprowl Personally I don't like the list view because you can't see the opengraph images. The 3 column grid view was very visually pleasing and gentle on the eyes. Any chance you can bring back the cards (with hover state styling) for each new featured product?

@jamie_sprowl thanks for reaching out, well a lot of things don't fit well with me.
1) The aside bar with clock and day streak is meh.. used to check the current time in different place, so not quite useful info that takes a lot of space for me
1.1) and it also comes with a scrollbar even though it's inactive because there's no content to scroll (looks awful in dark mode)
2) Grid view with two columns is so much harder to quickly evaluate rather then three column one. But this is the most important use case for me considering I am opening a new tab for something else in the beginning
3) List view is better
4) the small circle profile pictures actually add 0 value and distract attention since they're hard to recognize.
5) All in all to me it looks like you've added a lot of design elements that distract attention from what's important and it became so much more harder and distractive to take a quick glance on what's happening. I understand that it's a first update in years, but hope my and other users feedback will be useful for your improvements or at least customization options backlog
@eugene_kondratyev appreciate the thoughtful response! Yes, as always we will take user feedback into consideration for future improvements. :) I believe the scrollbar you are seeing is a bug, so we will get that one sorted soon.
Ugh, love the new tab extension so much. The time w/ streak display and favorite/recent tabs is such a nice touch! It'd be cool to see your badge progress on the extension and a "random product" generator that displays a random product each time you open the tab.

@maxwellcdavis every new tab you open will show top launches for the day and there are filters across the top to see recent launches per topic, discussions, and maker stories. You can upvote directly from the extension but to comment on something, a new tab will open taking you to the full Product Hunt experience.
Rather dissapointed, nothing really happened once the extension was installed, maybe a bug ? Excellent concept on its own anyways
I loved Product Hunt Tab, and this new design is refreshing.
