I'm stoked to be the hunter on this. I have been recommending productboard to larger Product teams. And now I can also recommend it to smaller teams too because of this new free option, a customer feedback portal. Something any product focused organization needs.
Sophie Lalonde
@hnshah thanks for the vote of confidence!
Sean Ellis
This looks great! Thanks for sharing @hnshah .
Shiv Patel
@hnshah @seanellis Thanks for the support! As a subscriber to The Breakout Growth Podcast, how does one give feedback on what we liked or what we would recommend about each episode? If you think it could work, happy to help you setup a free Portal for the podcast!

++ on products specifically for PMs, this is going to help us standardize our processes and improve the discipline. It's super simple to use and solves the main pain point of involving customers through the whole feature development journey and closing the loop with them. Honestly, closing the loop is the main value prop for me because it drives the ever elusive ‘customer delight’. Landing page for Customer Feedback Portal is great, with the example portal. Took me a moment to realize it was an embedded view -> I would think about adding a border/panel or something to make it offset from the rest of the page.
Shiv Patel
@sidhantgandhi thx for the feedback. You are spot on - close the feedback loop is the key reason we built the Portal. There are many feature voting forms, but they just simply start the loop, not close them. Re: your LP comment --> I will address this week. Thanks!
gerasim_sergey
I wonder how you will monetize the service ... if you do not take money, you will not be able to maintain and develop the product and it will then be closed
Mike Acler
@gerasim_sergey I believe they expect you'll switch to full Productboard suite eventually so it is the marketing/sales cost for building and maintaining it :)
Shiv Patel
@gerasim_sergey - Gerasim, good question regarding maintenance and development! The vision of the free Customer Feedback Portal actually came as a way to give a small-part of our full productboard suite to help the product community listen and engage with their customers. A version of the Portal that is connected to our paid full productboard suite has been used among our 2800+ customers! Since the product is really simple and easy to use, requiring no integrations and has a low setup, we broke it off into its own standalone product. We have a team continuously listening to the feedback and developing on the product using our own Customer Feedback Portal of course: https://bit.ly/2EfGxJt Check it out and you can see our customer-facing feature plans for the free Customer Feedback Portal and our full productboard suite. How do you guys currently get feedback from your users, @gerasim_sergey?
Shiv Patel
@elisei yea, pricing is tricky of course with anything. On this product though, its just free-free. : )
Shiv Patel
@agilek yep, we are on the same wavelength : ) We do have a paid full productboard suite system. Anyone can start with the free Customer Feedback Portal and start collecting customer insights to shape your product strategy. If you get lots of feedback, you may want to organize these insights, use them to prioritize what to build next, and align with your stakeholders using dynamic roadmaps. These are all functionality of our full productboard suite that you can upgrade to, but not required. If however, the free Customer Feedback Portal satisfied your long-term needs, then you can just continue to use the product for however long you need, for free! We just want everyone to drive their own product excellence using customer insights at the core, so we figured we would give this as a small gift to our community. : P

Winston
Great product! Even larger organizations can start using it right away: 1. Post some feature ideas. 2. Share with power users or customer advisory board. 3. Rapidly identify which ideas resonate most with your target users and collect feedback that can help you deliver the optimal solution.
Shiv Patel
@winston_christie_blick that easy huh 🤔
Amokrane Tamine
This is dope! I was looking for something on this level and couldn’t find it. Not to mention it’s free.
Shiv Patel
@amokrane_tamine Just in time I guess 🤷‍♂️ What were you looking for? As you give the product a go, does it meet what you were looking for? I'm all ears to listen to your feedback 🎤
Amokrane Tamine
@shivhpatel I was looking for a public roadmap platform + a way to collect feedback and feature requests. This does all of that quite well. I've started playing with it on a personal account. So far everything ok.
Shiv Patel
@amokrane_tamine sounds like a good fit! Please ping me if you need help and would your feedback along your journey from setup, activation, to success! Browse our live Portal if you want to see how we set ours up: https://portal.productboard.com/...
Hailey Friedman
This is so great. I love how it turns the product build into a collaborative experience. And at the same time creates a hub where customer testimonials can live and be collected. As a marketer, having that content available for use is invaluable.
Sophie Lalonde
@hailey_friedman1 so great to hear your use case! Do let us know if you need any help setting up. Hope to hear about your success story soon :)
Douglas Franklin
?makers how do you prove that the customer providing feedback is in fact a customer?
Shiv Patel
@douglasfranklin Hi Douglas, you can embed the free Customer Feedback Portal in-app, so only customers can have access to it. In our paid offering, we are working on an integration with Salesforce, so you can determine feedback from all your different customer segments and attributes of users: customers, leads, SMB, churned, Enterprise, etc. In the free offering, you can go the embed in-app. You can also embed on your own custom webpage, the link which you control where it is shared. Oh, also, to ensure the user is a real individual and not spam/bots, a visitor needs to confirm their email upon providing an insight, feedback, or a new idea. Does that help? Is there another way you were hoping to achieve this?
Austin Gaydos
Hey all, chiming in from a sales perspective here. Getting feedback to the product team is only half the battle, they still need to understand the broader context of the request across the customer base. Ever have a conversation that goes like this? Sales people: “Hey product team, we can’t close deals without XYZ feature” Product team: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It’s (probably) not that the product team is waging an assault on your commission checks. Chances are that they don’t have a good way to manage requests which makes every request seem like a one-off. What if you had a way to systematically capture all feature requests and easily share them with your product team? You could go from that conversation to this one: Sales team: “Hey product team, over the last 4 months we’ve had 27 customers ask for XYZ feature and think building it could help us unlock $$$ in new/expansion revenue” Product team: "this data is super helpful in making our case to management about why we should build this. Keep collecting data and I think we've got a good chance of getting this done." Help yourself by helping your product team - give them better feedback requests, backed with data, and watch the difference.
Shiv Patel
@austin_gaydos Thx for giving a perspective from the sales POV!
Austin Gaydos
@austin_gaydos @shivhpatel - happy to do it! I've worked at too many places in the past where the feedback loops between product and customer-facing teams (sales, success, support, etc.,) were broken :)
Mitesh Boral
It looks interesting, could be very helpful for small businesses specially
Cindy Berman
@mitesh700boral We agree! Curious to hear what ways you envision it particularly helping small businesses? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Michael Teevan
Brilliant. Looking forward to seeing how this continues to develop.
Sophie Lalonde
@michaelteevan1 Thank you! We will keep you updated :)
Erica Halpern
Solid product demo. How does this integrate in the overall workflow of the Productboard platform. I can see how this is going to be very appealing to users who are looking for an entry tool to validate customer feedback and I am curious to hear how this fits into you full suite.
Sophie Lalonde
@ericahal thanks for the feedback! Like you mentioned this certainly will be an entry tool, and the great news is when someone is ready to upgrade into the entire Productboard platform, they will have the existing Customer Feedback Portal data populated right into the platform :). This way existing feedback can be combined with other sources of feedback, features can be prioritized, and customer-centric roadmaps can be shared across teams. Happy to explain more if you are interested - we cannot wait for your feedback on our feedback tool.
Scott Baldwin
Thanks Hiten Shah for the hunt! So many great use cases for the free portal: * product managers - gain knowledge on key problems and gather feedback at scale to inform better product decisions * UX/Design teams - gather input early on problems you're looking to understand * VoC teams - collect feedback
Shiv Patel
@benryvan Thx Scott! What do you think the stream/flow of a piece of feedback from a VoC teams to UX/Design/Produdct teams is right now? How does the feedback often get shared and what happens to it in common environments?
Scott Baldwin
@shivhpatel for a lot of VoC teams, feedback ends up living in a repository apart from product teams or just never gets seen. If it is shared its often just spreadsheets of data, decks, or lost among the noise. Huge that these two could be connected to build more alignment and better decisions. Especially important for VoC teams and it gives their efforts purpose and ensures their learnings are used!
Jennifer Herring
Very excited about the new customer feedback feature!
Shiv Patel
@jherring hi there! As the try the free product, I would love to hear your feedback on the onboarding? How do you currently get, store, and organize customer feedback? 🗄
Ben Lee
Amazing! Was just talking to my team about how we need a centralized spot for collecting feedback and validating ideas. Can't wait to give this a test run. Been meaning to evaluate productboard so perfect timing!
Shiv Patel
@uxdude As you try the free product, how do you think it can help GTM teams work better with product teams? 🧐
Ben Lee
@shivhpatel Just started playing around with it and def wanna expose this to some of our users. But I also see a great opportunity for our own internal customer-facing teams to leverage this to provide feedback on behalf of their own customers/accounts and validate ideas from their perspective as well. I'll be first to admit the collaboration between Product and our GTM teams isn't that strong so this could be a perfect way to bridge that gap. Looking forward to it!
Yuri Alexandrovski
I can't believe this didn't exist before. Seems so obvious in hindsight!
Shiv Patel
@yuri_alexandrovski Better late than never 🤷‍♂️ How are you looking to use the product?
John Henwood
As a Customer Success leader, putting customer centricity at the heart of your Product research and planning makes my heart warm!
Shiv Patel
@john_henwood thanks! How do success teams in general often route the feature requests and feedback they receive from customers to the product teams? In return, how do the customers know what happened with the feedback that they gave? Curious to hear about such feedback lifecycle among CS teams.
Ben Hommerding
I really like how this tool allows customers to give valuable, targeted feedback. The way they can provide feedback on existing issues, create new ones, screen share and give positive feedback and new ideas on features is fantastic. This is an invaluable tool that makes provides the most valuable feedback to a team, from the customer. It has a great design, and makes giving and receiving feedback easy! We'll definitely be implementing this in our workflow!
Sophie Lalonde
@beninbeta cannot wait to hear about your success story! Feel free to contact either Shiv or I if you need any help setting up.

@shivhpatel this was needed 10 years ago! Love to test this out.
