@phil_jacobson - congrats on the launch. My initial assumption was that it might turn into a mess of NSFW photos. How are you managing this right now?
Phil Jacobson
@rrhoover thanks Ryan! Great question. Fortunately our community has been very positive so far! Currently, we have a "report" feature built in and our community has been policing the content very effectively. We're super diligent about removing inappropriate content once it's been reported. That's worked for now. As we scale, we will continue to build out necessary tools to keep our community clean, comfortable, and positive! If you have any interesting ideas, would love to hear thoughts. Always open to new ideas :)

@Zfiscr Thanks Zack, really appreciate the kind words!

@ozguralaz Thanks! Glad to hear you'll use PumpUp to track and share your progress. Great feedback! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I totally agree could be faster. We're growing really quickly, working on improving our backend. We're hiring back end engineers, if you know anyone awesome :) Also working on better integration with other fitness apps/products, like Nike+, Runkeeper, FitBit, etc. Love the idea on showing a relevant, inspiring image after logging an activity! Thanks again for the feedback :)

@netspencer Totally agree. It's super important to us to keep the PumpUp community a very positive place, with a focus on inspiring people to live a healthier and active lifestyle, as opposed to focusing on losing an unhealthy amount of weight, etc. Thanks for the comment!

We just launched The New PumpUp! Over the last 6 months, we’ve cultivated a truly inspiring and motivational community for healthy and active living. As we’ve grown, community has become the core of our product, and understanding that, we’ve spent the last few months totally rebuilding and redesigning PumpUp from the ground up, putting community front and centre. The initial feedback has been very positive, and I'd love to know what you "product hunters" think! @phil_jacobson Congrats on hitting the 1 M user mark! I do echo @rrhoover 's concern, but believe the appropriate automated measures and user acquisition + loyalty strategies can handle the issue. Can't wait to see how PumpUp continues to grow this positive user base.

@rrhoover @danielflips: Checking on this again 5 months later, I just started using it today and don't see any NSFW content. I followed 20 of the suggested users to follow to populate my feed (since none of my friends use it) and see nothing but supportive, positive content and discussion. @rrhoover Seems like your kind of place. I like it so far.

@thetylerhayes @danielflips that's awesome to hear especially with something like this.
Phil Jacobson
@thetylerhayes @rrhoover @danielflips Hey Tyler! Glad you checked back in and saw how positive and supportive the PumpUp community is. It's a big focus of ours internally, and will remain this way as we continue to quickly grow. See you on the community :) Cheers!

@phil_jacobson Congratulations. I like the minimalist design and UX: I will absolutely use and track my progress there. My notes are 1. You may do something to make the app faster. 2. Maybe you can look at secret or whisper applications. When i log an activity, you can recommend me related/inspiring images. 3. Social media integration is not good. For example, when i log my run with Nike+, Nike+ automatically updates my profile with a nice image and motivating post.

@me_lem you would love this.

The sense of community on this thing is quite something. It's really become a supportive niche social-network centralizing around fitness/self improvement. Congrats on hitting the 1 million user mark

Not sure how I feel about this. "Inspiration" to be healthy and "inspiration" to unhealthily lose weight is a fine line…
