Hey ProductHunt, I'm excited to announce a big update to refern that improved every aspect of the app since last launch! New features: - save images as you browse the web using the refern capturer chrome addon. just click save button on an image, and it will auto upload to refern in the background. - all your images are now automatically labelled! no need to enter generic tags anymore. just search what you are thinking to find your references. - the moodboard editor is rebuilt from scratch. blazingly fast performance with better ui/ux, and mobile touch support. - global search. find and save curated reference created by other creators, and use their images in your moodboard. - streaks and timeline. struggle to stay consistent creating? you can now upload your work everyday to maintain a streak, and see all your past work through the timeline. - and many more! I have been having a blast using it myself when creating artworks, and I think you would have a great time using it too whether you are an artist, graphic designer, or someone who uses image references in their work! To celebrate this launch, I will offer an exclusive one month free +Supporter status to the ProductHunt community. +Supporter give you some extra customization perks (app theme, profile customization, badges, etc). Simply reach out to jackson@refern.app before 2024 ends to redeem it! Some links: refern capturer: https://chromewebstore.google.co... my refern profile: https://my.refern.app/jaks024

The new features, especially the Chrome addon and moodboard editor, sound incredibly useful. Can you elaborate on how the automatic labeling works and what types of customization options are available for organizing references? Congrats on the launch, Jackson!
Jackson Y
@kyrylosilin Thanks Kyrylo! The automatic labelling is currently done by feeding individual images to Gemini on a schedule asking it to give keywords for different categories and asking it to describe what is in the image. Planning on also adding https://huggingface.co/spaces/Sm... along side of Gemini to give more keywords for search. For organization, there are folders and collections. - folders holds collections and reference boards, - and collections holds images. You can make any number of these to organize. For all the images, you can add name, description, source name, source url, is NSFW toggle, and tags to it. For everything else (collection, folder, boards), you can add name, description, cover icon url, and tags to it. Everything you add to the objects that you have and all the inferred properties will all be searchable. Planning to also add community labelling aspect of it, where the other users in the community can help you label your images. Hope this is helpful!

Finding and using other creators’ curated references is a huge time-saver. Awesome work, Jackson!

@thetlinthu Thanks! Especially now that AI images pollutes a lot of reference sites, seeing and using references curated by other artists would be really helpful.
