Refinery improves your copy anywhere, whether it’s a static website or a React app. Get AI generated suggestions, make edits in-browser, and publish them. Refinery is used by PMs, founders, & marketers to make copy tweaks without bothering engineers.

Everyone's felt the pain of logging a ticket into the backlog for a simple text change. I'm curious: How does this compare to Jam?

> Everyone's felt the pain of logging a ticket into the backlog for a simple text change. Yes, exactly! And it feels silly to ask engineering to work on a text change when there are so many other important product features they are busy with. > How does this compare to Jam? Jam looks like an awesome product! The major difference I see is that Jam looks to be focused on the collaboration part of editing a web app. We're focused on helping users push changes to their web app as fast as possible, starting with copy. The "holy grail" use case for Refinery would be something like: get a few AI-powered suggestions on how to improve some copy -> pick one you like / tweak it a bit -> push the changes live immediately -> see site conversions go up

When do you think the automatic code generation will be available? I have a React app I'd like to use this for.
Edoardo Conti
Hey @mr_mariusz! We were hoping someone would ask that. Automatic code generation from copy tweaks should be available in a month or two. The idea is that you can make some tweaks using our chrome extension, connect a github repo, and we will automatically generate a pull request with your changes.

Hey Product Hunt 👋🏼 We’re the creators of Refinery. Refinery is a chrome extension that lets you improve your copy in 3 steps. Get AI generated suggestions, make edits in-browser, then publish them live immediately. While going through Y Combinator’s S20 batch with a totally different product, there were so many times when we wanted to quickly change some copy in our web app, but didn’t want to start our dev environment, open our text editor, make the change, create a branch, create a PR, … you get it. Luckily our team is 3 engineers, but it got us thinking about how our first marketing or sales hire would make these changes. This led us to build a prototype for Refinery. The first version included the ability to make edits and push them live. Our alpha testers (typically non-technical folks like founders, PMs, marketers) were happy to be empowered to make changes without engineers, but they also revealed a new problem to us: they weren’t sure what copy to use in the first place. We recently added the ability to generate GPT-3 powered suggestions, so you can avoid writer’s block and discover copy that’ll (hopefully 🤞) improve your conversions. We’re also working on a crazy new feature that lets you generate the corresponding code changes from your edits automatically. Installation is really easy. Install our chrome extension & optionally add our JS snippet to your web app and that’s it. We’d love to hear any feedback or questions and will be responding here all day! Tell us how well (or not so well) the suggestions turn out! As a bonus, we’ll bump anyone who joins our waitlist today to the top of the list so you can start using Refinery immediately.
Aman Dhesi
Super cool, congrats guys! Love seeing technological breakthroughs (GPT-3) turned into simple and useful workflows.
Edoardo Conti
@dhesi_aman it's really amazing what language models like GPT-3 can do. We've been experimenting with using these kinds of models not only for copy suggestions, but also for code generation and we're blown away by how well it works.
Stas Kulesh
Looking great folks!
Lionel Vital
@stas_kulesh thanks for the support!
Nicu Listana
The idea is valuable for me as a developer, going to try it
Edoardo Conti
@apebeast awesome, will look out for your name on the waitlist!
Arun Saigal
Awesome. Definitely recognize the need for this tool and excited to try it out!
Edoardo Conti
Thanks @aksaigal! I tried it out on thunkable.com's header -- this suggestion was pretty good "Get your app built. No developer required.".
Resh Wallaja
Disappointed. First you ask questions on your site, take an email (always a big ask) and then request that the person email you to get on a waitlist?
Lionel Vital
@resh Hey Resh, appreciate the feedback - just putting your email down on our site is enough to be added to the waitlist. We appreciate getting emails from folks to hear more about their use case, but totally optional.
Ant Wilson
This is brilliant!!!
Lionel Vital
@antwilson What a compliment, thanks Ant!
Akk+hill
Making minor website copy changes take 2-3 weeks in fast growing companies. I would love to try the product. Congrats on the launch.
Lionel Vital
@oyeakhil haha, to us ex-FB/Uber/Twitter engineers 2-3 days sounds fast :). Would be happy to onboard you! Send us a note at team@refinery.so
Mert Aktas
Interesting product, thanks for hunting @gustaf and good luck to makers!! I've joined the waitlist, fingers crossed to test it on our blog 🤞🤞🤞
Lionel Vital
@mert_aktas Thanks for the support Mert!! Email us and we'll help ya out!
Vedika Jain
This is smooth. Love that you can try different copy in the context of everything surrounding + ship them immediately.
Edoardo Conti
Thanks @vedika_jain! Yeah, we're trying to make it really easy to test & update copy without any context switching. We also have plans on the roadmap to automatically generate code from the changes which some users have said would be a killer workflow.
Arjun Mahadevan
Congrats on the launch team 🚀 Love this 💪
Edoardo Conti
Thanks for being one of our first users, @arjmahadevan!
Ankit Ghosh
Congrats, great tool for teams.
Edoardo Conti
Thanks for checking Refinery out @nutpanda!
Edwin Kys
Wow! This looks neat. Every indie web developer needs a tool like this. Thanks for developing such useful tool.
Edoardo Conti
Thanks for the words, @edwinkys! Will add you to our beta.
Alexey Shashkov
Congrats, guys!
Lionel Vital
@shashcoffe Thanks Alexey!
Manav Kohli
This is awesome - super helpful for tweaking language on our landing page. Also was helpful with the AWS outage yesterday :)
Edoardo Conti
@manavkohli thanks for sharing your experience with it!
Jonny Summers-Muir
I was just writing copy for one of our integrations and this would of been perfect 🔥
Lionel Vital
@jon_summers_muir There's still time :). Thanks for your support Jonny!
Yunyu Lin
Refinery is an amazing way to iterate on your site. It's honestly shocking how much easier it is to try out ideas when you don't have to switch back and forth with a code editor. Congrats on the launch team!
Edoardo Conti
@yunyu thanks so much for sharing what you think about Refinery. Cohere has to be one of the best product experiences I've had, so it means a lot coming from you.
Amy Liu
This is awesome. I'm constantly trying to rewrite the same sentence over and over again in different ways. And then putting it to test right away to see what sticks! Congrats on the launch!!
Edoardo Conti
Thanks @amy_liu3! That resonates as we are 3 engineers who are no good at writing copy.
