The value prop works for those who strongly prefer a paper or paper-like writing experience and don't want to/can't manage paper. Being able to find notes from yesterday and last week at a moment's notice is similar -- and priceless to someone like me who writes constantly and files only every other year (if bribed). Price and value aren't equal... that said, have I placed an order? No. Did I drop some big hints? You bet I did. :)

The price point is the killer. Reduce the price to around 199 (with pencil) and you have a winner.

I saw the ad for this on FB and was really drawn to it, but as others have said, the price is an issue.

Who else here can't do anything without their notepad? I never made the jump to working 100% digitally, and still need to scribble things on a piece of paper to be effective. I can see myself using this and replace my notebook. The killer feature would be recognizing my handwriting and being able to search past notes (there doesn't seem to be mention of this on the website?)

@gflandre Absolutely and 100% yes. I made a real effort to go paper-free some years ago and found that it effectively killed my creative thinking process. I am now happily back with a selection of notebooks, pens and pencils.

@gflandre I feel the same way... I tried to use less paper and making notes in some digital way, but as much as I tried it doesn't work for me. It kills my creativity. Paper and pencil is the fastest way to note things, when they pop up in my head. But I'm curious how close reMarkable is to real paper experience.

@gflandre Rocketbook - the handwriting recognition come in from other places you can connect it to - like Evernote.

Cool product but really too expensive. Something between 150 and 200 $ is a fair price

I really REALLY want this, as I'm quite tired of having documents and notebooks scrambled everywhere on my desk. But man, that price! This would easily be a hit if it was anywhere between $129-$199.

This is where I'd hoped to see Amazon take the DX but for me still to high a price point especially when adding UK import VAT etc hope to see you survive as company and product but I'll have to wait until the eink technology comes down in price.

now a new model out but couldn't find on PH with search

Here's what's missing: Evernote integration, Kindle app (should be possible if this was running a version of Android I would think), solar panel on the back so you never have to charge it. Those would justify the cost—without, it's a glorified etch-e-sketch.

Beautiful. Solidly thought out product design. ...then that price! You could use up a Field Note monthly for 10 years. Then the price goes up 40%? You could buy an iPad Pro and Pencil.

Wait - isn't Sony smashing out something similar? https://www.cnet.com/uk/products...

I just bought one. Here's why. I love paper. Seriously love paper. It means I can take notes in meetings without hiding behind a screen, keeping my notepad in my lap. I can pull out my notebook and a pen and immediately start writing. I can organise thoughts in 2 dimensions and somehow my mind remembers where on the page I wrote it down. I bought it because if I can genuinely use this like I can paper, it will be amazing. I love the no email, no SMS, no Netflix. Nice ad too. If I end up not using it, I'll return it. Cool? (Though I really want to use it - I go through a notepad in 2-3 weeks and I like the expensive ones... this will save me money!)

I though hmm why, but after thinking about it, really nice. The new Moleskin? For many, I think so. (Does it have a browser, for extracting text from web sites and such, like kindle silk. Since this is presented as a work device rather than small reading device, browser would be good.)
