RemNote is the all-in-one workspace for note-taking, learning, organizing thoughts, and growing knowledge. It’s built for students, creators, organizers, and anyone looking for thinking superpowers.
A huge congrats to the team on the launch! I’m in RemNote literally all day. Aside from my Internet browser, there are 0 apps that I use more than I use RemNote. So excited to see it on PH today!
A Examples Of My Key Use Cases:
- For ideas I want to store in my mind for future use and thinking, I make flash cards out of them (things like mental models, life philosophies, important facts). Everything else goes into my database for retrieval when needed. Think of my flash cards as info I’d like to store in RAM and the rest in my hard drive
- Whenever I want to brainstorm new ideas, I go find all the ideas that may be relevant to whatever I’m brainstorming. Let’s say I’m brainstorming about community building. I’d pull up my rems for community, moderation, moderator, and others that are relevant. There I can go through every note, reading, conversation I’ve ever logged into RemNote about those topics. Whatever I come up with in this brainstorming session goes back into RemNote and will surface in the future.
Advice For Those Getting Into It:
- Startup simple. There are a lot of features and a ton of tools to learn. It can be overwhelming. It took me at least a month to design my full work flow, get used to all the keyboard shortcuts + powerups + set up all my templates. I didn’t do it all at once. Started with a simple case, just taking notes on conversations, added use cases on top of that as I went.
- If you’re looking to get into building your “Second Brain”, Tiago Forte has some good free and paid resources on this. You can look into his PARA structure for how he organizes his database. The book “How To Take Smart Notes” is also incredible for learning how to take notes and how to learn - shoutout to UMNiK from the RemNote Discord for that tip
- There are sometimes bugs and issues. Premium does come with automatic backups and there are many ways to manually backup otherwise. Their customer support is also pretty responsive.
Finally, one plug. If you use my link to sign up -> HERE <- you get a free month of premium and I’m happy to personally show you how I’d recommend using it and various tricks and structures I picked up. Even if you don’t use that link, still happy to share everything I've picked up - just DM me on Twitter
@sydney_liu_sl Thanks, Sydney! Totally agree with "Start simple" - focusing on that advice one of the biggest things I've learned from talking to users.
Very promising product. Developers are very responsive and the software is being developed at an impressive pace. Kudos @martin_schneider1
There are unique features here that still have not been implemented in Roam or other competitors - for example, PDF linking and a dynamic sidebar.
I've been trying it here and there and planning to start using it fully next year for my Master's. There is a learning curve in using the application as well as some UX/UI quirks to get used to. Hopefully, developers will invest some time polishing the experience now when RemNote has the paid version.
RN team 有自己清晰的设计思路,得益于整个创世团队本身就是知识管理的高手,并且有丰富的知识管理领域的心得体会。
好的方面:
1. 双链笔记 + Anki 间隔重复的思路很赞
2. Everything is a rem,
---
RN team has their clear thoughts on product developing, as they are all best at the area of knowledge management, also have good sense and their own thoughts.
Good Parts:
1. bi-links note + Anki/spaced repetation
2. Everything is a rem, it similar to object-oriented thoughts, it could be easily for users to build their own knowledge structure, as it brings extension and automation.
3. PDF reading + bi-links, it works really good.
Need more efforts parts:
1. L10n & i18n, it brings a lot issue for non-ascii languages, especially has different keyboard settings. Hope users could change it by themselves
2. Could support more e-book formats like epub .etc
3. payments, if is hard for somebody without a visa card to pay, especially for students.
In the whole, we love RemNote, hope it goes further.
?makers re:Lifetime
1- What will happen to my data after 5 Years Cloud Storage,
2- If i would like to renew my Cloud Storage after 5 years how much will it cost?
3- Would you also consider another tier of Lifetime Membership which includes lifetime Cloud Storage, too.
4- Why not Lifetime access to V2 (if it release in the future) or any upgrade path to our Lifetime accs?
@temizyurek
1. After the 5 year period, all work done while using RemNote Pro remains in your account. For example, you’ll have ongoing access to all existing Aliases, PDF Uploads/Highlights, and Image Occlusion Cards. To create new ones, you’ll need to resubscribe to RemNote Pro. You'll be able to re-subscribe to the cloud support version for a reduced fee.
2. We're not yet sure, but we'll make sure you get a better deal than the main plan.
3. We're being careful to build a sustainable business, and we don't see a path to do this yet. However, we may consider expanded plans at some point.
4. We'll likely provide an upgrade path with a reduced upgrade cost.
@pediatric_doctor You get access to the Pro features in the desktop app for life. However, we can't support infinite web storage costs, the Life-Long Learning plan offers 5 years of synced web Pro features.
@martin_schneider1 At first i was really amazed to see the lifetime deal, however when i got into details i am so disappointed. Terms are far away what real lifetime offering should be.
1- Confining the user with v1 is not acceptable in the LTD world.
2- I will invest into the platform for about 4 years in advance (Pro Plan) and i still have no idea what will be provided (Your 2. & 4. comments)
A member's comment: "Not so sure if this is a true LTD. It says if they ever release V2, it's not included."
3- Lifetime offerings are a great way to fundraise and more importantly those customers will be your ambassadors. Remnote lost a huge opportunity here to convert Roam users. I published this deal into one of my LTD groups and nobody is interested. Hope you will consider much solid REAL LTD offering and these people will definetely be your best customer in the long run.
4- Make it $500 include all future updates LTD and another LTD option with Lifetime Cloud Storage and see how you will convert people.
5- Work with someone who really understands the LTD world.
Awesome tool for students, researchers and life-long learners. It’s the best Roam or Notion alternative out there!
I’m a huge fan of space-repetition, when studying for my master degree and RemNote helps a lot with this.
Thanks for building such an amazing product! @moritzwallawitsch
I need to make a decision by January 24th as Roam Research will charge me yearly subscription and your opinions would be appreciated
Can you guys share your experiences or comparison between the following Second brian tools:
1. Roam Research
2. Obsidian
3. RemNote
The most used features that matters to me (I am 1 month newbie to this second brian concept and are learning):
1. Backlink
2. Tag
3. Image uploading
4. Graph
@eric_kim3 Features 1, 2, 3, are basically similar in all those tools. It's really up to the individual to structure their workflow around whatever they use and stick with it. For graph, I would say Remnote's newly released feature is the most powerful in terms of flexibility right now.
That said, I did switch from the others to Remnote and their progress has since been unbelievably fast given their limited resources, compared to other more well-known tools.
Hi @martin_schneider1 ! First of all, thank you for bringing such a good product! Actually I had no plans for writing any feedbacks as was still staying excited defining and linking `Rems` from my previous documenting system. However, during my regularly scheduled system provisioning I found this information might be useful / interesting to you and your team: http://bit.ly/remnote
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
Martin, RemNote co-founder here!
As a student and researcher, I had become increasingly aware of how little I remembered after reading an article or completing a course. I was also frustrated with how hard it was to keep my thoughts, research, and projects organized. I needed a tool to streamline my thinking, connect ideas, and optimize my learning for the long term.
RemNote is that tool - an all-in-one workspace to take notes, organize thoughts, learn anything, and grow knowledge.
- 👨🎓 Students & learners use RemNote as a long-term learning platform, mastering content through note-taking, integrated spaced-repetition flashcards, PDF annotation, and knowledge-graphing.
- 👨🔬️ Creators & writers use RemNote as an idea-generation platform, sparking ideas by leveraging references, [[backlinks]], portals, aliases, and graph views.
- 👨🔧️ Thinkers and organizers use RemNote as a second-brain, staying organized with fast search, templates, to-dos, tags, and other simple-but-powerful organizational features.
This is only the beginning 😉. Just last week, we released PDF annotation and alias features that tightly integrate with the rest of your knowledge base. This enables you to link source materials to your notes, your brain, and back again. Please, message us with feature requests!
We hope you’ll check us out! Don't forget to download our desktop and mobile apps (with fully-offline options). We have early-bird pricing in effect for all Product Hunt users, as well. I’m excited to hear what you all think!
Martin
@martin_schneider1 looks promising. i can not see it in the description nor landing page - is there a way to access study materials that someone else added?
@martin_schneider1@vladojsem Yep - there's not a public portal yet, but you can publish a snapshot of notes/cards, and then send a friend a link that allows them to import that into their account. For example, all of our tutorials are written and published within RemNote itself. https://www.remnote.io/documenta...
@martin_schneider1 I think: need to upgrade the to do options, expand the options to rem marked as to-do. I know it is not the purpose from app, but it will help to better organize and keep notes as tasks, remembering us. At all, keep the great job and recurring updates!
Much underhyped tool compared to other products existing today that deal with note-taking, thinking, productivity etc.
I have used the pre-launched version for less than 6 months but am already impressed by how fast RemNote kept progressing during this time. I started using it to learn a new language and manage what I read everyday, now I use it for almost all types of instance that need me to plan, connect ideas and think deeper.
Try it for yourself. You will find at least one area of your life you can use it on and then wonder how you have been doing what you have been doing for so long.
I used this product to pass the CompTIA Cysa+ (Cyber Security Analyst) certification and I had zero background in this field. AND...I'm a horrible test taker! Not any more! RemNote allowed me to outline concepts and create flashcards at the same time. HUGE TIME SAVER and I retained so much through spaced repetition. RemNote allows me to learn so fast that I'm currently using it to study for two certification at once. I purchased the pro plan the day they announced it. It's so fantastic! Can't say enough!
I’m pretty well-versed in the tools for thought space, and Remnote is almost certainly the best for students, beautifully merging networked thought, flash cards, spaced repetition, and PDF annotation.
After trying a lot of note-taking apps, watch a bunch of youtube reviews, and comparisons between different workflows I finally settle down using RemNote. It needs polish on the UI but I'm sure they're on the right track!
Thanks for share this tool with the world, I'm sure that will have a huge impact on many users!
I am a doctor and use remnote daily! Its amazing! thank you Guys for creating this awesome app. Do you think we will be able to get some cool CSS like Roam in near future? I am eagerly awaiting to get it
Absolute favorite. Has made the student life feel so much less chaotic. So happy to see RemNote reach this stage. I wish I was a day 1 but it's insane just how much improvement we've seen since just last June. Give it a shot, you will not regret it. I haven't looked back since 😉
