RemovePaywall is a website that allows users to remove soft paywalls and ads from any news article or blog. It's free and easy to use. All you have to do is enter in the URL of the article.
@alon_keren Each website is different so there are different methods that work. Some are really simple and can be removed by simple clearing the browser cache(This works if there is like a daily or weekly limit on articles). Others can avoid that so another way is to impersonate a google bot. Websites want to get indexed so they allow the bots to get access to the article. Overall, just a lot of testing and trial and error. Thank you for trying it out.
@anastasia_mikeyeva Currently it can only be used on the website. However, I do have a prototype for a Chrome extension, but I still need to test it more.
I really liked the idea, I would definitely give it a try. Those ads and paywalls do make reading experience annoying, distracts as well. Congratulations on the launch!
This feature was the only reason why I used Safari or Microsoft Edge browsers. But this will help me read articles easily on any browser!
I'm sure I'll end up using this a lot.
Great job and congratulations on the launch! π
@harsh_siriah1 Exactly I got so annoyed with getting hit with a paywall or being forced to login to read an article. Thank you, I really appreciate you trying it out.
Hello!
I have been working on this side project for a few weeks and thought that it might be useful for some people.
I enjoy reading the news but hate clicking on an article and being hit with a paywall or being forced to login with an account. So I wanted to create a solution for that.
I have tested it on major websites such as NYTimes and Washington Post, and it has worked so far. That being said it is still in beta so reporting any feedback or bugs that need to be fixed would be very helpful.
The website is completely free and will stay that way. If this seems interesting to you I would greatly appreciate it if you could try it for yourself.
Feel free to ask any questions or leave comments, thank you!
