"he has to pay for your profile and you get your commission." This language is unnecessarily exclusionary. You're assuming all advertisers are male-identified. Perhaps change this to "they have to pay…"
John Robin
@stan Yeah right that's not wrong at all, we'll do it thank you buddy, Canadian translator.
Tom Charde
I see several laptop references & icons on your site, but all I can find is the iOS app. Where's the Mac version?
John Robin
@tomcharde Hi, you don’t need it on desktop and we do not have an app because as you already signed up with your mobile, you’ve been connected with your Facebook, Google or Twitter and the system will recognize you. Cheers
Tom Charde
@wwwjohnrobin I haven't signed up with mobile and don't want to. If you're using FB/TW/Google single sign-on, can't this be validated from a desktop browser without the need of installing a mobile app?
John Robin
@tomcharde Yes very soon, you need to have the app and sign up with your email instead of social login and you'll get prompt on the next version to click on a link to activate your desktop.

Just some feedback for you guys, it took me quite awhile to figure out how to get started with app. I actually closed it and thought that you hadn't launched yet and there wasn't a way to sign up yet. I decided to open it up again and I think I accidentally tapped the Facebook button at the bottom, but would never have guessed that's what I needed to do. I like that you can get right into connecting accounts, but I would definitely make those the most prominent items on the screen.
John Robin
@austinwprice Hey thank you for the feedback. When you opened the app the first time, didn't you have a first screen with a small presentation (like Rentork is Awesome, etc) and at the bottom the text SIGNUP / CONNECT and all the social connect buttons? Android or iOS?
Austin Price
@wwwjohnrobin Yea man I'm looking forward to trying it out. I did have that screen when I first opened it. The issue is that I wasn't really sure what to do. I tried tapping "SIGNUP" a few times, but it wasn't obvious to me to use the bottom bar to connect an account. I would do some testing with this, but my suggestion would be to give the buttons to connect an account the prime real estate and make it really easy to open the app and find that.
John Robin
@austinwprice You're right we'll do something to get it more obvious. Thank you very much for your feedback, this is important for us.
Austin Price
@wwwjohnrobin No problem, looking forward to seeing what you guys do with it. Good luck moving forward!
John Robin
@austinwprice Advertisers are ready, publishers almost and we're finishing the mockups for the Rentork Smartphone, should be a lot of FUN.
Mees Boeijen
I have to wonder what the difference is between this and Datacoup (https://datacoup.com/).
John Robin
@meesboe Hello, Datacoup only pays you an amount per month depending on your profile and that's it. Rentork will not pay you a fix amount per month but for each ads viewed (depending on the cpm / cpc price) and for all your actions. Datacoup is like only 8-15$ per month for your data, Rentork will be around 75$ - $120 for renting your data and working all around the web and apps.
John Robin
@andym_dc @meesboe We also did not spend 500K$ in 1 year to create it and did not lose the rest of the money without doing anything.
Andrew Mutavdzija
@wwwjohnrobin @meesboe I'm willing to give it anoIther shot, but to have waited however many weeks or months to be onboarded, then to have it sit there and garner me $0.00, then to one day login and I'm kicked out and back in line for some more weeks to be re? -onboarded, is a little frustrating.
John Robin
@andym_dc @meesboe Hi, you're not back in the line, because you were on the first batch of users, you profile value is 20% higher than the new users, you'll be in priority for the ads diffusion of course and you'll have the new features activated before everyone in few days to start testing it. Thank you for your confidence.
Henno
@wwwjohnrobin @meesboe Very interesting. How much effort would it take to get up to $120 a month?
John Robin

@rotemthegolfer Thank you :)

@wwwjohnrobin, Suggestion based on a pitch at a Startup Weekend I facilitated: Market this as a way to ultimately get free talk/text and/or data on your phone. One team calculated the amount of time it would take watching ads delivered directly to your device periodically to pay for the basic phone plan ($30) each month. Maybe you'd eventually just transfer those credits directly to their phone carrier as a credit to their bill. If people thought they could get a free phone just for authorizing their browsing habits to be used, I think they'd be more incentivized to participate.
John Robin
@chadcarleton This is a good idea we though as we are preparing our own Smartphone allowing people to earn more money. You'll have the choice to pay you mobile plan or get your money. As Rentork is not only ads on your mobile but everywhere you go on the web it should be very interesting. Thanks to you
Brannon Desseyn
love this concept, but i was perpetually stuck at 17 days until my account was activated....probably for 3 months of that.
John Robin
@bdesseyn Hi, with this new version it should be good and you should have the launched in september the 1st
Barend
This was on PH earlier. What's new?
John Robin
@grooveplex Hello, So this is the final release before the network is launched in few weeks. The app has a brand new design and includes our AI (Flyde) allowing users to ask what kind of ads they want to see and choose the content, they can request for example: "flight Paris New York october 2016 2 adults" and when an offer is available the user will see it everywhere on the web to not missing it because have you ever found a good offer at the exact time you needed it? So now advertisers will have access to our requests' trending module to push offers when users need them. We also included "Ads Booster", allowing users to share ads on their favorite social networks and also sponsored video watching. Now the tracking is far more better, when you download the app on one device, you can now earn money when you see ads even if the app is not installed on your laptop, desktop or another device.
Zbigniew Czarnecki
Awesome concept! Congrats to founders :)
John Robin
@z_czarnecki Thank you very much
Suhas Gundimeda
@wwwjohnrobin Hey! I respect you as a maker, and I see Rentork isn't up anymore. Could you write a blog or something detailing your experiences? Or at least PM me? I think the world must benefit from your experience building this.
Desmond Popkowski
I'm prepared for disappointment here, but I'll ask anyway: Global or US only?
John Robin
@desmondzik global, US is already in prelaunch and many European countries. Asia is october/september
Amber Klein
Is there a Mac component for this? I am online on my laptop nearly all day.
John Robin
@amberdklein Hey, no need, just download the app on your smartphone, as you connect with FB, TW or GG, you're also connected on you Mac too (who is not connected on FB)? So the system will detect you.
Gabe O'Leary
The app experience could use quite a bit of work. When I am filling out my profile and tap on birthday they default state is to type something in... I don't know what format you guys want. It took me a while to notice the arrow on the right side I had to press to get options. Also for spoken languages the keyboard remained open even though you can't type anything in.. and making user scroll through list of hundreds of languages to find english seems foolish.
Gabe O'Leary
Also navigation in the app is very confusing. The icons at the bottom are pretty vague. And when I'm on the interest view the home button takes me back a screen, not to the home screen.
John Robin
@golear Hi, Thank you for your feedback, for the birthdate we know this issue and are fixing it on the next release this week. For the back button you should be back on the previous screen, we'll see what's going on. Thank you for your feedback it's really appreciated and it helps.
Gabe O'Leary
@wwwjohnrobin so when I tap the heart it takes me to "Interests". From here when I tap a category such as "sports/outdoors" it takes me deeper in interests which is why the "Home" button no longer makes sense, as it isn't taking me home, but to a higher level of the same menu.
John Robin
@golear Yeah maybe a font awesome icon mistake we'll fix that
