A simple native meditation timer was missing for Apple Watch. There cannot be a better time to release the first version before June 21, International Day of Yoga.
It is a timer which notifies you in a subtle way using haptic feedback that the time you set has been completed but continues to keep time. I think it is much needed for meditation since we do not want to be disturbed if we are in a deep meditative state at the end of timer time.
Also, it connects with the Health app, so meditation time can easily be saved as mindfulness minutes.
The app has also got a stats screen to keep the user on track which shows: current streak, average time, total sessions and time for last 8 days.
With every daily meditation goal you achieve, a petal is added to the flower. 8 days of continuous meditation and you have a full bloomed flower and a positive aura. A day off and a petal drops off! The challenge is to maintain a full flower with 8 petals.
Hopefully, this will motivate one to go "one day at a time" and practice meditation regularly.
Would love to know your thoughts on this :)
Thanks @marie_coop The idea with the lotus flower is that as you meditate a petal gets added to the flower.
A day off and one petal drops off. The idea is to motivate the user to go for at least 8 days of continuous meditation which adds 8 petals to the flower. After all, the benefits of meditation are realised as one meditates regularly for few days.
I think a future update could have different visual effects/shapes to extend the limit of 8 days to maybe, 15 days, 30 days. What do you think?
