So as many of you know... Robinhood doesn't charge you any commission for trading stocks (which means that you can literally buy 1 share, or 10 shares, or just $100 worth of stock, which does not make sense with traditional brokers).
Now with Instant, Robinhood is fronting you $1000 so you can start investing as soon as you sign up. Over 100,000 people have singed up in the first 12 hours since launch 😮
Ask @vladtenev@TheJGR and @bprafulkumar (who did a Product Hunt LIVE last week anything!
@nivo0o0@vladtenev@thejgr@bprafulkumar I really love this. When I signed up for and started trading with Robinhood, I was a little impatient at having to wait the three days (though I understood their reasoning). This, however, seems like a great solution for a middle-ground and something that I think will help attract a lot more new customers to the Robinhood app. This team has a great future ahead of it!
@nivo0o0@vladtenev@thejgr@bprafulkumar you need more. switching costs are too high. I am your perfect users but I won't change away from eTrade (not because the tech is good)- switching costs are too high.
@shimmb form what I understand if you transfer $1000 or less then Robinhood will front you the money until the transfer is complete so that you don't have to wait to invest or wait for a payout to clear.

I love this! #FinTech puts the people first, looking forward to see what #StrategicPartnerships emerge in the next 18 months or so. I think I already have my 1st investment picked out too.
I have a few friends that use your service --- they love it --- as soon as I get some money and stop spending on development (haha) I'll start investing on this platform for sure!
Any idea how they provide the instant access to deposits? What I mean is, is there a technological innovation, an innovation in deals with the exchanges, or just a whole lot of insurance money involved?
Looks interesting. Had a bad experience with Robinhood the first time though. Applied for an account and to this date, I'm not approved. And there is no way I can find out why or what happened. :(
@c0rv0s well, I am sure there was a lot of work going into it behind the scenes to enable it (and some risk on Robinhood's part to float the $1,000 before users actually have funds deposited).
@sethlouey How have your results been, were you an experienced investor to start with? I'm thinking that it is an excellent entry point and maybe eventually you can follow "power" users. Just a thought.
@vbarnett323 I was an entry level investor. Robinhood makes it really easy to get into the investment game, but I do wish that there were features or maybe tips on how to invest better via newsletter or some other information through Robinhood.
