Hey everyone 👋 I'm Kenzo, Founder & CEO of Rock, a collaboration platform made for how we work today. Now used by thousands of users in over 172 countries, we have made hundreds of improvements and changes over the past year that I'm excited to share with the Product Hunt community today. 🏢 Collaboration is a mess Collaboration tools like Slack, Trello, and Asana were built for a world where everyone worked in the same physical location and timezone. These products have been optimized for real-time and continuous communication, which leads to too much noise, loss of productivity, and the pressure to be online all the time. Today over 70% of startups are remote first and teams are more fluid than ever before. A typical project now includes freelancers, agencies, or is done as part of an open source community or decentralized DAOs. All of this requires not just a different way of working, but also a completely new productivity stack built for how we work today. 🤘 Bring order to chaos with Rock We are bringing sanity back to the way we work by solving the following problems:
  • Constant switching between different apps → Rock brings messaging plus tasks and all your favorite apps together in one space.
  • It's too much hassle to start working together → Instantly work with anyone with your own space.new link.
  • Collaboration tools are too expensive → Rock has no limits on the free plan. Radically accessible pay-per-space pricing on the paid plans.
  • 🎸 Messaging and tasks together at last Messaging and tasks are at the core of what builders and makers need to get work done, so we've made them available in the same space. As teams use lots of other services we've made it possible to connect everything from Figma to Notion, Google Docs, and lots more so you can reference them within Rock. Rock is also multi-modal so you can pick and choose how you want to communicate. 📧 Stop settling for email You need to jump through so many hoops to set up a shared tool stack to work together, so in the end you just settle for the lowest common denominator (email, spreadsheets, fax machines :). With Rock, you can now share your personal space.new link or QR code to set up a group space with someone else within seconds. Want to try this out? Come say hi to me at https://space.new/kenzo 🌏 Radically more accessible and affordable Most tools have limited free plans and then charge a lot of money every month if you want to do just a little more. Rock comes with unlimited messages, tasks, people, and spaces for free, and we have pay-per-space pricing for power users. On Rock you do not pay per user instead you sign up for a paid plan and pay the same low price every month. 🎸 Stop slacking, start rocking Already using other tools? No problem as you can easily import from Slack, WhatsApp, Trello, Asana, Jira, and ClickUp and get your team up and running within minutes. Rock is available on Mac, Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, and web. ❤️ People love us Thousands of people and hundreds of teams already love Rock. Don't believe us? Check out the 1000+ reviews and the 4.8 ⭐ rating for our mobile apps or read how Rock is being used by software developers, freelancers, and creative agencies. ✅ Ready to rock? To celebrate this milestone we are running a special promo just for the Product Hunt community, which gives new users 3 months for free on our paid plans. With the PRO and TEAMS plan, you get PRO spaces, custom space.new links, larger workspaces, pinboards, and so much more! 🎵 Already a Rock user? Congrats on the launch. What's the biggest differentiator between Rock and Slack? I don' think Slack or Trello isn't build for remote teams at all. Even if they're not designed for it, they still work perfectly so far. So why should I switch my behaviour for Rock?
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @ho_desmond! The biggest difference between Slack and Rock is that Slack is just messaging, while Rock has messaging and tasks at it's core. Most teams need a combination of both to actually get work done and with Rock you can now do this in one space. We've also been very thoughtful about how we integrate with Notion, Figma, Google Drive, and other apps and make these available in Rock with an actual front-end versus bots/notifications which are not as easy to use. In addition to all of this, we allow people to pick different ways of communicating and switch to a more async way of working. If you have something urgent, you can send a chat message. If you need to discuss something face-to-face, you can start a Zoom or Google Meet call. For everything else we make it easier to do this in a more organized way with comments and topics. This is especially useful for remote teams, as you now don't need to be online all the time as most discussions and decisions are documented so you can catch up when works for you.

Rock makes me more productive I work with my clients. Formerly, I used many different products to manage tasks, messaging, notes, file sharing, etc. I can easily invite my clients to Rock and create a workflow for everyone who needs to follow. It's not easy only for me, it's also easy to use for new users. They're easily adopted to use Rock because it's designed well. And it's free! Most of the productive features are free to use, Rock really supports freelancers (like me) with their free features. I'm using Rock for 1,5 years and I am never disappointed.
    Kenzo Fong
@tolgaaltas so great to hear that Rock has been super helpful with your clients! Let us know if there is anything we can do to make Rock even better for you :)
    Maciej Kuta
Hi, I used Trello before, I have many comparisons now in the company and I think Rock is the best tool on the market. It helps me focus on the most important things, because I have everything in one place, do not need to juggle and can quickly invite others.
    Kenzo Fong
@maciej_kuta great to hear Rock has been able to replace Trello for you!
    Brittany Joiner {Britt the Builder}
Really cool concept! I know a lot of folks feel the string between using a task management tool and something like Slack, and i love how this brings everything together in one place. I also think the per space pricing model is really interesting, because it will allow you to scale as you add more users to your team. Does the space have permission controls? I see that you can have managers, but can you have observers in the space as well as editors?
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @britt_joiner! We currently have different roles for each space (managers, members, and guests) with different permissions. Also working on a more granular way of assigning permissions and customizing these per workspace. Try it out and let us know what you think!
    Brittany Joiner {Britt the Builder}
@kenzofong awesome! I know that's a big request in Trello as well. This is really cool! Congrats on the launch!
    Kenzo Fong
    @britt_joiner thanks so much!
    Colton Lee
I LOVE Rock! It's basically like Slack with a easy to use project management system built right in to keep everything (chat, tasks, trello-like boards, files, notes) in one place. So no more communicating the same thing a million times in different apps. Been a game changer. And it's not super complicated like some other well known apps in the space. Proudly support!
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @coltonjetlee! You've provided a ton of helpful feedback to the team ever since you switched over from ClickUp. Great to hear you LOVE Rock!
    Jon Tristan Alsup
I love rock! We switched our team to it a few months back and has been great. Leaving slack and trelllo in the dust.
    Nico Spijker

I use Rock with my team and my clients every day! I had so many problems with Slack; Rock is so much better! And it's awesome that I don't have to send my clients to five different places to access messaging, documents, tasks, etc. It's all in one place!
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @weddingtechbff and great to hear Rock is working for you! What are the main problems Rock solved for you compared to Slack?
    Paola Veglio
So excited to see Rock here on PH sharing all the updates that rolled out in the last few months! There’s literally no other team out there who has put as much thought into building something truly designed to make this new world we’re living in one where we can thrive both professionally and personally. Long live the mental sanity of having all your favorite apps and docs finally in one place AND the freedom, trust and productivity that only deep work and async-first communication can enable. I highly recommend any and all distributed teams to try it out right away, it’s a game changer - and free unlimited!! Huge congrats to @kenzofong @nicospijker and the entire team all over the globe 🔥
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @paola_veglio! Couldn't agree more with all of the above!
    Raiyan Yahya
    the ux looks very nice!
    Nico Spijker
@raiyanyahya Thank you so much, we have made loads of changes to make it as intuitive as possible. Loads of work from @wandile_mamba went into getting the UX into what it currently is.
    Wandile Mamba
@nicolaas_spijker @raiyanyahya thank you. All the improvement is thanks to our very responsive users' feedback. 🙏
    Vitalii Gerzhan
Congrats and good luck! Quite a beneficial set of features.
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @vitalii_g! Would be curious to hear which features you like the most?
    Kenzo Fong
@vitalii_g that's also what a lot of our users like! By having all of these in one space they can simplify their workflow quite a bit. They also like the ability to quickly and easily work across organizations.
    Nico Spijker
Hi everyone, Nico from Rock here! Super excited to see Rock live on Product Hunt today. This could not have been possible without the support of @kenzofong @wandile_mamba @burhanrashid52 @kacper_n @iqbalperkasa @tomasz_grzybowski @izabela_szotek and many other team members, users, partners, mentors & advisors, and others! 🙏 I wanted to take this opportunity to do a shout-out to everybody building a community or anyone who is passionate about building communities.👀 We've spoken with tons of community managers and members of open source projects, DAOs, and other projects to learn more about your day-to-day struggles: 1) Slack, Discord, and other messaging tools make communicating a lot easier, but can quickly become chaotic with no project management functionality. 2) It can be tricky to get everyone together and collaborating often requires hacky solutions or outdated systems. 3) Pricing can often be an issue as well as most tools require either expensive plans or put limitations on the free plan resulting in you losing messages/work. We think Rock can help, so let's connect if you're currently managing a community or thinking of creating one! 🙌 In return, we'll make it worth your while with resources and rewards to make managing & growing your community easier. 🚀 If this sounds interesting, let's connect on Rock: https://space.new/nicolaas Cheers and see you all around, Nico
    Abid Unnisa
Is this something similar to clickup? Or an alternative for teams?
    Kenzo Fong
Hi @abid_unnisa, we're more messaging focused than ClickUp and we've heard from users who switched that they really like the more intuitive user experience on Rock. As for Teams, we work nicely not just with Microsoft services but also with Google, Dropbox, Figma, and a bunch of others.
    Kenzo Fong
@abid_unnisa now is a good a time as any :) and if you ever need help just send us a message through https://space.new/hello! What are your main issues with ClickUp?
    robocop
Great service constantly improving, great staff and vision and love the features! It is the only service my team relies on and it has been pitch perfect thank you!
    Nico Spijker
@pissy_ham Super thrilled to have you with us on Rock and thank you so much for the kind words! What is your favorite Rock feature so far?
    robocop
@nicolaas_spijker the integration with pabbly honestly, the webhooks bot is also wonderful. These features set it apart from all the others. Plus it all just works.
    Nico Spijker
@pissy_ham Super cool to hear! Any feature suggestions or new functionality that you would like to see moving forward?
    robocop
@nicolaas_spijker well one thing would be to let the bot/webhook (Pabbly) send a message to the space, I get making a note and creating a task, but that is the only thing that is missing for me (which says a lot because I use a lot of the features.) One distant second would be to add more notification sounds to mobile (iOS) and MacOS, though I love the default because it is very distinctive from the other alert sounds.
    Nico Spijker
@pissy_ham New notifications sounds are actually on the roadmap! Webhooks allow you to send messages, could you maybe send a message to the support space so someone from the team can help you out with that?
    Romano Pravdic
Hey ?makers, where did the idea come from? Congrats on the launch! 🤙
    Nico Spijker
@galaxyx7 You have probably noticed a big shift in how people perceive working with movements like remote work, the great resignation and quiet quitting being trending topics. As the workplace evolves, so should the tools that we employ on our day-to-day to get work done. The more you can do in the same place the more effective, and how teams collaborate has changed so much that we need to change our approach to collaborating online. @kenzofong Originally came up with the idea as a solution for people spending too much time in meetings or unproductive time. We hope to improve people's day-to-day activities to maximize for deep work while minimizing distractions. You can actually learn more about it in this article: https://rock.so/blog/stop-slacki... Super curious if your workflows have also changed in the last few years and how you're approaching the future of work with your own teams. :)
