The world's most effective journal, backed by therapists. Get real-time feedback, personalized insights, and track your growth over time. 2,500+ happy customers. Over 90 million words journaled.
I am an active daily user of Rosebud. I can genuinely say it's one of the few products I would be incredibly sad to see go away.
There have been countless sessions where I've left saying "wow" and discovering something new about myself or rediscovering an important memory. It's the light touch therapy that we all need, but can't find in our day to day. I highly recommend it to all of my friends and family.
I’m excited to support my YC ‘08 batchmate on this special launch day.
Rosebud is an interactive journal and self-care companion that helps you feel better in minutes, not months.
Rosebud is therapist-backed and incorporates AI with proven journaling and mindfulness techniques in a way that not only helps you articulate thoughts more deeply, but also enhances your self-awareness and assists you in reaching your life goals.
The impact of Rosebud speaks for itself. In just 7 days, the majority of users who struggle with anxiety, stress, anger, and depression notice significant improvements.
After a year of success on the web, they’re making journaling even more accessible than before with a new mobile app, launching today for iOS & Android. It’s really well designed, and I think the world will benefit from this.
@garrytan Thanks for the hunt, Garry!
A year ago, rather than worrying about AI becoming self-aware, we asked, "what if AI could make us more self-aware?"
So we partnered with therapists to build an AI-powered journal that would be highly effective at helping people meaningfully self-reflect. We then took it one step further and allowed users to run an AI analysis every week to point out themes, patterns, and blind spots. All of this is done with a strong commitment to user privacy and data security
Since then, we've been blown away by the impact that Rosebud has been having with just a web app. With nearly 100 million words journaled, and many users reporting significant to life-changing results, we started to believe we had something really special.
We knew that we had to build a native app, so we spent the past 4 months heads down rebuilding Rosebud for iOS and Android.
Today, we’re excited to share it with the world!
Give it a try, we look forward to hearing about your experience.
@garrytan Glad to learn rosebud founders are also in the yc fam : ) I've been searching for an ideal journaling app that supports this kind of reflections feature for a while. Will def give it a try!
The impact is real. In just a week, most users see significant improvements in anxiety, stress, anger, and depression — this is impact, and the user testimonials we've seen are uniquely great. It’s beautifully designed and truly something the world needs right now. After a successful year online, Rosebud is now launching its mobile app for iOS and Android. I'm glad to have been the earliest investor in this (and all of Chrys' companies at this point!)
Rosebud is the single best product I’ve come across this year. I had been meaning to journal for years but this approach to it is what has stuck for me and I equate it to a daily mini therapy session in a way.
And over time as it gets to know more about it, it becomes more and more useful.
I’ve bought subscriptions for several friends as well. It’s really very good I can’t praise it enough.
Honestly, building mental health or any health product is tough. I helped built mental health products before, and I knew there are lots of things that need to be considered.
I think what I love about this app is it never talk about this is clinical - it complements traditional therapy BUT with tons of innovation. It focuses on resilience which is the best mental health prevention I recall my psychologist colleagues told me about.
The aha moment for me is that it recalls previous stories/emotions/memories - that's what's missing with so many journals today. It feels like a sinking hole that you just keep throwing information in but no feedback.
Congrats on the launch @chrysb and team!
After trying Rosebud over 3 months ago I now use it daily. I don't just use it as a journal, I use it as a personal assistant to help me organize my thoughts and even build agendas or help me write messages for personal interactions.
It can even help with two way interactions, supplementing the role a couples therapist may play.
So much of our energy goes to relational issues with self and others and Rosebud is the best thing to help these relationships.
@chrysb haven't needed yet, but it was helpful to reflect and ask questions with someone I am dating and could distinguish our voices 😊 we both said it could do couples therapy if we needed.
Rosebud is amazing - I did not know I would love an ai journal until I tried it! It is a really lovely, safe space. It is also a really good alternative to therapy. You write an entry and then the AI will prompt you with introspective questions about your entry. You can go quite deep and it feels like having a therapist available 24/7. It's the perfect way to learn about yourself, with complete flexibility of schedule.
Really excited to see how this evolves, it is a wonderful product that can bring people a lot of happiness and peace :)
Of all the AI apps, this is top 3 of the ones I use the most. I use Rosebud almost everyday to get my thoughts out and call out cognitive distortions, among other things.
It's way better than regular journalling, because it can recall common thoughts and actions from all you posts. Compared to a written journal, where you have to read back through old entries, Rosebud is leaps and bounds better.
I love Rosebud. It's like an always-there friend to talk to and get help from to dig deeper. Thank you to the Rosebud team for making even the free version so caring and capable.
I love what @chrysb is doing here! It's so important to create a space where people can express themselves without the fear of judgment. The stats are really eye-opening—1 in 4 is a lot! Real-time feedback and personalized insights can make such a difference in someone's mental health journey. It's amazing how journaling combined with AI can provide not just an outlet, but also track growth over time.
I'm curious about how you plan to scale this and perhaps incorporate more community features in the future. Would love to see more collaboration with therapists to deepen the insights provided! Keep up the great work—excited to see where this goes!
I've been using Rosebud for five days ever since I discovered it here. I must say, it's really well made. No matter how my day goes, I end up feeling *better* when I answer the prompts and dig deeper. I love how it helps me explore a certain feeling through another. Congratulations on the launch, team!
Congrats on the launch! I’m particularly impressed by the concept of “What if AI could make us more self-aware?” It’s a great approach that transforms journaling into a powerful tool for personal growth. Great job to the team!
Oh yeah! My favourite app is on product hunt 🤗
Therapist here!
I’ve used almost every ai app and custom gpt about wellness and therapy.
This one is tailored for everyone who seeks a journal that speaks to you, listens to you, manifest things that you really need to.
I am giving it to my clients and we have interesting conversations in our sessions.
The developers listen to their users and the upgrades are great.
Rosebud except from a think changer will become life changer and a big player to the new wave of ai mental health industry.
Your biggest fan in Greece!
Cheers
Thanks for the love @ioannis_glossopoulos ! Appreciate you sharing! 🌹

Congratulations on creating the world's most effective journal, backed by therapists! With real-time feedback, personalized insights, and growth tracking, you’ve already made 2,500+ customers happy and logged over 90 million words. Keep up the amazing work! 😊
The testimonials @chrysb shares from his early users in his investor updates are incredible. Example:
"I found myself crying within minutes of the session starting, I guess because it quickly made me look inside and be honest with my feelings. Crying was a good thing. I feel much better."
Real talk: Very few people build products that can elicit (productive) tears. That's impressive.
@chrysb – I've been meaning to ask you privately: What's the biggest surprise so far building Rosebud?
@rrhoover One thing that has stood out is just how many people don't want to bother their friends, loved ones, or even their therapists with their problems. Either because they don't want feel judged, or burden others with their problems.
The research supports this — 1 in 4 Americans feel they have no one to confide in, and when they do share, most people hold back how they're really feeling.
Every day we see multiple testimonials like the one you just shared, and we're encouraged that this is one of the best possible uses of AI to date. If we can provide an outlet for people to get things off their chest in a productive way and help people make a habit of it, we'll consider that a success.
@chrysb that makes sense. I know people that are very hesitant to even try therapy, partially because of the difficulty in finding a therapist that they trust and align with. I've had multiple therapists over the years, from very mediocre to exceptional practitioners.
