We agree — complicated paperwork and 30 day turnarounds aren’t ideal. We listened to your feedback and have been working hard to launch our own carrier, create a more streamlined claims process and add comprehensive coverage options tailored to the needs of digital nomads and adventurers. I was actually looking to signup with this last week because I was looking for new international insurance. But a couple of things kept me from signing up: 1) I ran into a lot of UI issues, the signup kept getting errors (and I'm a frontend dev so was trying to fix locally using my normal go-to's but no luck) 2) When I did finally get through, the pricing wasn't very transparent and it was asking me to enter my payment details to start. Being more transparent on what you'll be charged would be nice. Will definitely keep my eyes on the product though, looks intriguing and even though I called out UI and UX issues, I like the overall direction and when things worked, they worked really well!

We are very curious to hear more about the UI issues you ran into. In terms of the payment details, could you please let me know if you were signing up for Nomad Insurance? Or were you signing up for one of our other products? This is because Nomad Insurance only asks for payment details at the last step of the signup process. Also, I'm very curious to hear more about your experience when it comes to the transparency of the pricing. @gedionverkerk I kept running into just general server issues it seemed, it kept generating 'Something went wrong, if the problem persists contact customer support'. For the payment issue, I think this was when I actually was looking at Nomad Health (I guess technically different products but I assume you all work across these :) I received a quote but I knew I would want the extended US benefits, but it wouldn't show how much this would change my quote without entering payment details. Anyways, I looked at the site again today and ran much smoother. And yeah even with the above issues your UI and process is a lot better than the competition (after seeing it today)

I really like the user experience of the signup form; however, it's not clear what the insurance covers. For example, there is an "extreme sports" add-on that mentions it includes "motorbiking." Does this mean I need to add this option if I'm going to Southeast Asia, where I have to use a motorbike for transportation? Or is motorbiking not considered an extreme sport in this context because it's used for transportation?

Only if you are driving a scooter/motorbike larger than 50cc, you will need the Adventure Sports Add-on​. Just be sure to wear proper safety gear. Also, you must be properly licensed for the class of vehicle you're driving. Please check with local authorities for requirements. Hey guys, congrats on the launch (launch 2.0)! 🙌 Is Nomad insurance widely accepted by embassies for visa purposes? I sometimes run into issues during the Schengen visa application process because of the "unknown insurance provider" thing ;(

Canceled SafetyWing Nomad Insurance 10 days ago after paying 2018-August 2024. Didn't have a single claim in 6 years. Your so-called 2.0 set everyone's DEDUCTIBLE to $0. So my premium literally jumped 50%. As did everyone else's. And clearly your Exceptions carefully carve out real black swans. Much cheaper (outside US) to simply pay out of pocket. And no you didn't "listen to customers" to cancel the deductible to make it "easier to use"... Just another legalese-riddled product that does NOT deliver VALUE tuned to deliver ROI to the company founders.

We truly appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about your disappointment with the recent changes. Your concerns are valuable, and we’d like to clarify a few points. We understand that the transition to a $0 deductible policy has affected some of our customers, and we didn’t make this decision lightly. One of our guiding principles is to create products that are as simple and user-friendly as possible. Over the years, our deductible was one of the most frequent points of confusion and frustration for users, especially for those who may not be familiar with insurance terminology. After hearing this consistently from our customers, we decided to harmonize the policy across the board with a $0 deductible to simplify things. We’ve worked hard to keep our premiums affordable, and while there was an increase, it was not as high as 50% but 25%. The price change went from $42 to $56, and we acknowledge that any increase can be frustrating. Our goal is always to ensure the best value possible, including peace of mind when facing unexpected and potentially significant medical expenses. In these situations, paying out-of-pocket would be overwhelming for most people, which is where our coverage steps in to protect you. We’re sorry to see you go, and if there’s anything we can do to address your concerns or any other feedback you have, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We’ve valued having you with us and hope there’s a way we can continue to bring you the coverage you need!

The process is simplified in a way that it has fewer fields to be completed, meaning that filing a claim will also take less time. @web3_antivirus Hey Alex, thanks! Well we essentially rebuilt it from scratch so it would be fast to fill-in (much fewer fields) and faster to proccess (claim payout time down 84 %). How do we make it work: well I suppose more software and automation is a big part of the answer!

Love a product that listens to user feedback and improve the experience as a result! The website is also well designed - all of the coverages are explained in plain English rathe than legal jargons and the visuals is outstanding for an insurance product! I'm curious how do you bring tech into the insurance business? Do you use AI as part of your underwriting or risk assessment engine? Congrats on the launch again @srasch and team!

AI works for us in the background, but our service is built on a combination of really good tech and real human interactions (from amazing humans).
