Really fascinating read, some interesting tidbits: - the Anglo-Saxon word for saltworks being 'wich' means that places such as Norwich, Greenwich and so on used to Salt mines - Indian independence began with defying Britain's oppresive salt production laws. - Salted Cod was huge in British maritime dominance.

My wife absolutely loved this book and I got the play-by-play summary along the way. Fascinating.
