Hi everyone! The story behind this app is quite simple. After getting my first MacBook last year and using Safari as my default browser, I noticed a lack of essential extensions for developers and designers. I needed a tool to quickly download images in different formats, so I decided to create one myself. The result is "Save Image as Type" a streamlined extension that allows you save any web image as PNG, JPEG, or WEBP, simplifying your workflow and keeping your images in the format you need. It seamlessly integrates with Safari, ensuring a smooth and privacy-focused browsing experience, as it doesn’t collect any data. I hope it can be helpful for many people out there. I've also coded other Safari extensions, such as a font identifier, a color picker, a SVG Picker, a CSS inspector, and more. You can check them out here: Safari Web Extensions If you have any comments, you can send me an email at: contact@safariwebextensions.com I wish you all the best in your projects and much success!

Amazing work on "Save Image as Type"! This is a much-needed tool for anyone working with web images. The seamless integration with Safari and the ability to choose different formats will definitely streamline workflows. Do you have any plans to expand this extension to other browsers like Chrome or Firefox in the future?
Alfredo
Hi @renchu_song ! We currently have no plans to develop a version for Chrome, as there are already several options available there. Thanks for your support! Safari Web Extensions

Okay, cool but another Safari extension to save images, feels like a copy of Save as WebP and Convertio, i wonder what makes this different, hope its not clunky like the others, ugh, anyone else think these extensions are getting out of hand, maybe just me
Alexandre
Cool idea but do we really need another extension cluttering up Safari, might just add to the mess instead of solving anything for real, curious to see how many people will actually find this useful

Congratulations! We need more products like these.

Saw this from an ad, honestly not impressed, there are already tons of extensions like this, ever tried SaveImg or FormatConverter, they do the same thing and have been around longer, also your tool could use some polishing, the interface feels clunky, good luck tho
Kieran
Seems like a decent idea but honestly who needs another extension clogging up Safari, nice try though maybe focus on something more innovative next time

The new Safari extension seems to be a rehash of existing tools like Download All Images or Save as Type, can't see how it's different or better, especially with the same old options like PNG, JPEG, and WEBP, it would be more interesting if it supported newer or less common formats, also would love a bulk download feature to save multiple images at once, any plans for that? Having more unique features could make it more appealing, just my 2 cents

Stumbled across this extension through an ad, honestly felt a bit underwhelmed after trying it, while it's handy to save in different formats, it's not exactly groundbreaking or new maybe adding a feature for bulk image downloads or better integration with design software would make it more appealing, any plans to take it further or is this it

So what's the big deal here, a Safari extension to save images as PNG, JPEG or WEBP? There are already tools like "Save Image As" extension that does this or even "Image Downloader" which works better on other browsers, wouldn't it be more useful if it could batch process images or support more exotic formats?

Found this through an ad, not sure why anyone would use multiple image formats, seems like overkill honestly, maybe adding more unique features could help, like better image compression or integration with Google Photos or something
James Wlodarski
So this looks kinda interesting, but I'm wondering how it handles multiple images at once, have tried similar tools and they tend to be slow and buggy, also does it support other browsers because honestly who even uses Safari anymore, good luck with it though, would love to see some updates on this soon

Great idea, but who really needs another extension to save images, are we running out of ways to do that now, how about focusing on optimizing download speed or adding more file types, maybe some real innovation next time?
