Become a savvier travel with advice from the experts at Scott's Cheap Flights. We share the scoop on the world's most fascinating places, plus the money-saving secrets the airlines don't want you to know.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm the content manager who creates these newsletters (along with a stellar team of travel experts and marketers) and I wanted to share a bit more about why we took the counterintuitive step of launching a travel newsletter in the middle of a pandemic 🤔
First, our mission has always been to empower our users to be smarter travelers. Early in the pandemic, airlines were doing people dirty, offering them vouchers for canceled flights when the law states that if an airline cancels your flight, they have to refund you in cash. Our first newsletter explained this rule. Nearly 10 months later we still get emails from readers saying our advice got them thousands in cash refunds the airlines were trying to withhold.
This newsletter is an avenue to fulfill our mission of helping people save on travel—even at a time when they may not be going anywhere.
We added destinations to the mix to help people dream of places they'll visit someday. Written by local experts, these newsletters dive deep into what makes a place special: the people, language, food, drink, history, culture, and traditions. We also invite readers to learn more by sharing related books, movies, virtual tours, recipes, and other resources.
We won't be grounded forever, and we hope the Scott's Cheap Flights newsletter helps readers satiate their wanderlust, get inspired, and learn the tips and tools to outsmart the airlines and save money on their next trip.
I'd love to hear what you think, or what topics or destinations you'd like to see covered in the future.
