This is an MIT project to help categorize the emotions expressed in GIFs. They're using Giphy to source GIFs. I hope they're feeding information back to the GIF search engine to improve results.

Me too, I really hope they feed that back to Giphy somehow. Also, would like them to move beyond emotions to, you know, types of dancing or something:)

This is pretty awesome. GIFs representing emotions and how different people perceive them was a challenge when we built our last platform. When we tested gif implementation we started with 6 we thought may be universal, but quickly realized we needed to add text captions as different groups of users felt differently towards each one. I know the guys over at Relay probably tackle this daily, as well.
