Hey, I'm Christoph from SeaTable! šŸ™ŒšŸ» In mid-2020, we launched the first version of SeaTable as an alternative to Airtable, driven by our vision of "a world where creating digital solutions is easy for everyone, regardless of coding knowledge." This vision includes two main components: šŸ‘‰ A SaaS offering with a free plan that only requires an email address for registration (alongside paid subscriptions). šŸ‘‰ The option to run SeaTable on your own server, with both a free community edition and a paid professional edition available. Over the last four years, we've worked hard to enhance our solution, which combines no-code database capabilities with an intuitive spreadsheet interface. Our ecosystem has grown significantly, resulting in a comprehensive and robust API and ready-to-use integrations for Zapier, Make, and n8n. But that's not all! šŸŽ‰ With SeaTable 5.0, we proudly introduce our new user-friendly app-builder component. This feature empowers both programmers and citizen developers to create powerful digital solutions. SeaTable allows you to build any process or workflow you can imagine. Based on your data, you can design individual interfaces and frontends, and share them with your team and customers. Here are some of the highlights of SeaTable that set us apart from other solutions: šŸŽØ Intuitive App-Builder šŸ”Œ Powerful API šŸ“ˆ Higher limits of max allowed rows per base šŸŒ Multilingual Product šŸ“Š Fast-growing ecosystem and 3rd Party Integrations šŸ‘©šŸ»ā€šŸ’» Flexible Deployment Options (Self-Hosted) šŸ–„ļø EU-based GDPR-Compliant Hosting (SaaS Offering) šŸŽ Free base subscription for SaaS and self-hosted We believe SeaTable empowers organizations to enhance productivity and drive digital innovation and transformation effectively while ensuring data privacy and security. Give it a try and let us know your thoughts! Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to improve and expand our capabilities. Best! šŸ©µ

@christoph_dyllick_brenzinger1 Congrats on your launch day! Wishing you great success and new opportunities. What challenges did you overcome to get here?

Hey Christoph, SeaTable 5.0 looks like a fantastic tool for no-code app building! Could you elaborate on how the app-builder component works? Are there any limitations or specific use cases it's particularly well-suited for? Congrats on the launch!
Christoph Dyllick-Brenzinger
@kyrylosilin Hey Kyrylo, thanks for asking. The idea behind the app-builder is to allow you to easily create custom interfaces for your data. Imagine this scenario: You are a small company with 50 employees, managing holiday requests and other internal processes using SeaTable. It takes just a few hours to build the necessary table structures to store data like "who wants to take vacation at what time." (this is just an example - there are tons or more examples.) Now that you have the data structure, you don't want to grant everyone in the company complete access to this base, as each employee has different needs. This is where the app-builder comes into play: - Every employee gets access to an app where they can see their personal vacation requests and submit new requests through a simple web form. - Team leaders have another app where they can approve or deny vacation requests from their team members. - Management has a separate app that provides a complete overview with stats and other relevant information. This is the magic of the app-builder. You define the data and its structure once, but with the app-builder, you can create custom frontends with individual permissions, ensuring everyone sees only the information they need. From my perspective, this is a game-changer. SeaTable offers a no-code backend (database) to collect, gather, and organize any kind of structured data, and with the app-builder, you can build custom frontends. Does that answer your question? I hope my explanation helps.

@janoberhauser Thanks Jan. I highly appreciate your support. SeaTable and n8n are such a powerful combination.

SeaTable looks very useful! No-code database with great data visualization will benefit a lot of people. Congrats on the launch!
Christoph Dyllick-Brenzinger
@kehui_guo You just name it. There are quite some no-code database out there. But no-code database and app building is a complete new level! Thanks for your feedback.
Andriy Semenets
Love to see the self-hosted option! Congrats with the launch!
Christoph Dyllick-Brenzinger
@semanser Hey Andriy, self-hosted is in our DNA. Thanks for your feedback.
Stuart Foster
Great app, does what i want. Looking forward to working on the improved app. Would like double or triple height rows as in Numbers or Excel, but don't think it's possible. Cataloging my late Dads stamp collection if anybody's interested!
Christoph Dyllick-Brenzinger
Hey @stuart_foster2, thanks for your feedback. I guarantee you that you will love the new features of the app builder. The possibility to increase the row height is already on our roadmap and will be added in one of the next versions. Best regards Christoph
Nikolozi Tskhvedadze
Congratulations on launch its seems like huge update ))
Christoph Dyllick-Brenzinger
Hey @niko_cxvedadze, SeaTable 5.0 is indeed a significant and important update. We are incredibly proud of the improvements and new features we've introduced, and we are confident that this version will bring substantial value to all our users.
Suzanne Fox
This doesn't get said enough but we need SaaS platforms like this, especially non-technical people who would love to explore building an app without coding knowledge
Christoph Dyllick-Brenzinger
@suzzanefox, Thank you very much. That's exactly what we believe. As the world accelerates, IT should be accessible to everyone, not just coders and developers.
Jayesh Gohel
Hey @christoph_dyllick_brenzinger1 Is SeaTable 5.0 the Airtable killer? It boasts no-code app building, workflow design, and server options for control. Intriguing for citizen developers and secure data needs.
Christoph Dyllick-Brenzinger
Hey @jpgohil93, you are absolutely right. With Airtable focusing on enterprise customers, we believe that SeaTable is a great option for small to medium-sized companies and teams. SeaTable offers a no-code database and frontend builder in one solution. We provide a comprehensive and reliable REST API, support self-hosting even for small teams, and our prices are significantly lower than Airtableā€™s. In conclusion, yes, I would say that SeaTable is a true Airtable killer.

I used Seatable a few times in the past and this is the best GDPR alternative to Airtable that doesn't cut any corners. Consistent Updates always made it exciting discovering new or familiar tools that might or might not be adjacent to Airtable and other similar gadgets. And it seems last I checked, even more got added. I'll definitely check in again to see what changed and what usecase Seatable can help me with!
Christoph Dyllick-Brenzinger
Dear @timwldn, Thank you very much for your support. You are absolutely right. SeaTable Cloud is already GDPR compliant because all data is stored in European data centers. Additionally, SeaTable is one of the few solutions that offers a true self-hosting option, with up to three users completely free. I'm glad you like our updates. We strive to release a new minor version every month, usually packed with lots of new and interesting features. I assure you, we have many more exciting updates planned to make SeaTable even better. So, stay tuned for more updates!

Just tried out the workflow automation features, and Iā€™m blown away! This will save me so much time. Finally, I can focus on what really matters
Maka
Congratulations on the launch. SeaTable has the same function with dify, but i don't know which one is easy to use for beginner. Looking forward to new version.
Christoph Dyllick-Brenzinger
@maka_4, thanks for your congratulations. I don't know dify but from what I see on their website, the use cases are slightly different. Gify does not offer a no-code database to store thousands of rows. Also visualization and interacting with you structured data is not part of dify. Am i right? Still I think dify looks promising.
Maka
@christoph_dyllick_brenzinger1 yes, Sea Table is more newbie friendly! Looking forward SeaTable's more use case and new version! best wishes

Great job! The integration of no-code databases with powerful app-building tools is exactly what we need. @christoph_dyllick_brenzinger1 I will try it today.
Kumar Biswas
Just a newbie but it's looking good. Solid so far and ability to store and control data means faster responses and the owner is responsible for their security. Just starting first app!
Christoph Dyllick-Brenzinger
Hey @kumarbiswas, that sounds excellent. Thank you very much and keep building.
