@moinism thanks! Some of our developer friends have told us they've thought about creating something like this using Arduino or Raspberry Pi. Ours is Android-based, and our prototype was actually a rooted Nook.
I am in love with this product. My wife lives and dies by sticky notes. This just needs to be integrated with Amazon Echo so leaving reminders will be simple for my kids that dont have smart phones.
@bleistern kudos for being "brave" enough to live without Kickstarter in 2016.
I hope the open API allows direct-to-device communication. My sad Little Printer sits on a shelf, without BERG to keep it running, and makes me loathe to invest in more devices that depend on cloud services beyond what's necessary.
@gerwitz@bleistern Hi Hans! At launch all communications will be handled through the cloud. I wouldn't rule out direct to device communications just yet though, definitely something we'll look into!
It takes a bit too long for the production, I know maybe because you want the final product to be perfect, but I'm afraid there will be hell a lot of copycats in China within 3 months.
Just my 2cp
@clementtang we'll just have to make sure ours is the best software experience available! I have no doubts that competitors will copy... but if we can keep nailing the software, we might just be able to stay ahead :)
love the idea, but skeptical how attention-grabbing the display will be without some color or animation or even less carefully aligned images and text.
@jonprice Jon, we think you'll love the KnowGlowโข LED feature for this very reason โ it gets your attention subtly, without being obnoxious. In person, it's really gorgeous.
@sandrojazzar Argh, I thought the same thing when I saw Spring 2017. I remember as a kid I read about the game Dark Forces in a magazine, and then later that day we were at Costco and IT WAS THERE. Would love more "Surprise, it's out!" but these companies need buzz to get going.
@bleistern It's just that I was ready to whip out my CC! Now you'll either have to remarket me when you launch or miss an opportunity! I don't rlly like to order something and wait, especially when it's a cool product! ๐ U should take it as a compliment! ๐ And giving out my email for updates isn't ideal either :( but I promise to keep an eye out for when u ship ;)
Looks cool but unsure about how useful it will be compared to traditional sticky notes. You can't use this one roughly and freely the way you can with the traditional one. but, indeed a great product! Good luck, guys! :)
@palakzatakia Palak, there's definitely a few sticky note use-cases this doesn't replace. But we're working on making it better and better :) Thanks for your support!!
@guilliatt Hey Dan! Sorry for taking a bit to get back to you here. We unfortunately failed to raise the the money we needed to make SeeNote a reality at scale. We sold a lot of pre-orders, but with no investors, we ultimately ran out of time and resources. We then had to refund the pre-orders. We then pivoted to a product called Hynt, which would have required a far less complicated supply chain. Alas, market demand for Hynt wasn't what it was for SeeNote. We're now back in research mode, and we hope to bring to our next product what we learned from SeeNote. We're one step closer to success. Re-reading all these amazing comments, I know we can get there if we keep learning. Onward!
Interesting approach! While 'invisible interfaces' like the Echo are finding a place in the home, there's something to be said for having a visual reminder. Like others have said, I'm super bummed about the 'pre-order'.. a lot can happen in a year!
