Check out a new voice and video API product by Sendbird, the company co-founded by my friend John Kim.

Damn! I think every SaaS company is considering how to add this feature, and Sendbird Calls makes it super easy. Congrats on the great launch!
John S. Kim
@jiwon_nique_jang Thank you for the kind words!

Looks great, congrats on the launch. I assume Sendbird Calls are only for mobile. Any plans for to launch for web apps?
KC Kern
@5harath We already have and SDK and quickstart app for JavaScript! Built in-site calls into your web app in no time! https://docs.sendbird.com/javasc...
Doosik Bae
Awesome! Chat and Call can be built at once!
John S. Kim
@doosik_bae Thanks Doosik!

I’m into it 👍 You could build a whole lot of TeleConference apps, for many different use cases, in a post Covid world.
KC Kern
@digitallawrence Yes, we expect many apps and websites to start thinking about real-time voice and video in the context of their own UX in the coming months and years, now that remote “in-person” work and communication is becoming more mainstream.
John S. Kim
@digitallawrence ⚡️ Thank you and right on point! 🙏
Digital Lawrence
@kckern Absolutely agree that UX designers at many companies haha, are now tasked with implementing video. We're already looking at ways to integrate 1-1 matching with experts on our platform and need a way to provide in-app/in-browser video experience, once that connection is made. So we will definitely be trying it out!

Love what John Kim and his amazing team have created with Sendbird. Super easy for developers to get up and running with chat, and now equally easy to enable voice and video calls. You guys rock @doshkim 🤘🏻
John S. Kim
@dsarabia Thank you David! Appreciate the kind words!

What is a pricing model? also how do you differentiate this product over other voice over IP product in the market?
KC Kern
@markatsendbird We follow the industry standards of charging by the minute per user, at different rates for audio and video. Minutes are prepaid. Although Sendbird Calls is not yet as mature as other products in the market, it stands out in its simplicity and focus on the developer experience. Developers can make their first call within 15 minutes of signing up.
Claude Sutterlin
@markatsendbird your user name is markatsendbird, isn’t this question a little disingenuous?
Mark
@claudesutterlin As you pointed out, my id explicitly represents my engagement with this company and I am aware of that. I'd like to apologize if this regarded disingenuous attempted and made you unpleasant, but I wanted to stimulate some strategic information shared to this post so people could get involved more easily.

I wish you had pay-as-you-use model instead of minimum commitment ranging from $400, it becomes lot easier for startup to scale, I also think your pricing structure is not easy to understand, for instance for "Starter 5K" it seems it is only for chat, and for video calls, it says talk to expert. It is kind of turn-off when pricing are not transparent. I wish this could be fixed, anyway, product seems promising, best of luck and looking forward to use it in near future.
KC Kern
@ibrahim_azhar_armar Good feedback, thank you. Calls will be going to a self-serve model soon, such that you will no longer need to "talk to an expert."
Claude Sutterlin
@ibrahim_azhar_armar yes, prices are extremely tough for startups. We used them on a project and they estimated $600/month when we wanted to go into beta. We ended up losing two weeks writing our own chat client to replace it, which was pretty annoying. I assumed a reasonable usage based pricing when I first incorporated them into the app.

You should note Sendbird's new voice and video API. It's Awesome!

I've been experiencing Sendbird services for a long time. It always gives me great experience than expectations. Congrats! New products Sendbird calls.
John S. Kim
@silverdel Thank you Min! Really appreciate it!
Sadjad Fara
Why the Sendbird requires company email address to fill out the "talk to an Expert" form. What if you are a developer/startup at early stage... ? Just something that should be addressed. best. -- Sadjad @doshkim
Sarang Paramhans
@doshkim @sadjad_fara Thank you for the feedback Sadjad! Currently developers can log on directly to https://dashboard.sendbird.com/a... and get started building with the product for free. To maximize the value we've made available 1000 minutes of voice and video calling each for a period of 30 days for free.

everything SendBird does is amazing! First the easy chat API and now an easy video API, highly recommend it!

@kgesus Thank you Karl!
Tess Battumur Ferm
This is amazing voice and video API product by Sendbird. The hottest startup up in the Silicon Valley for sure!
John S. Kim
@tess_battumur_ferm Thank you Tess!
Alex Orr
This is great! I was able to try this out right away using the app store app / calls studio, and it was quick and easy to build a custom app in an afternoon by following the quickstart guide.
Greg Zen at StartupHeroics.com
Perfectly timed and amazing!
KC Kern
Thank you @mrgregzen! We are committed to help app creators meet their users’ needs for personal connection during these difficult times!
Brian Gamido
Great offering. High quality video calls have never been more relevant and important than in these times.
KC Kern
@briangamido That's what we think too. Rather than force users to go off-app to make a voice or video call, the proposition of keeping calls entirely in-app is growing ever more compelling.
yongjun choi
It's a great simple, easy call API. I want to do excellent service with this.
