I kind of like how there are no references at the beginning to Season 1 or the phenomenon that Serial has become. Sarah Koenig just dives right into the story, like it's another day at the office.

@teecycletim noticed the same thing. She knows she's the shit and doesn't need to flaunt it.

I am pumped that Serial is back. Hopefully it can recapture the atmosphere and style of season one. Let's see where this goes... "Season Two is a story a gazillion people have heard about: the story of Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. soldier who walked off his post in Afghanistan in 2009 and was captured and held by the Taliban for nearly five years. It’s been in the newspapers and on TV; it’s been the subject of congressional investigations (in fact, this very day, the House Armed Services Committee is releasing a report on the Bergdahl trade)—and it’s an active case in military court."

@wwr228 just finished listening, seems like a bizarre story. it'll be interesting to see where they take it. it's pretty hard to imagine living through that experience.

Was a huge fan of Serial season 1. Feel like it's the series that got a lot of my friends into podcasts. Excited to see what season 2 has in store. @bgunz19, you gotta finish season 1 so you can start this.

@andrewmettinger As your friend, I can attest. "Startup" was my first, "Serial" was my first addiction. I listened to Season 1 (albeit late) in two days.

@iambarronroth Despite your hard recommendation, I listened to Startup way later than I should've. Only recently started (and finished) season 1. Queue: -Serial season 2 -Startup season 2

@andrewmettinger Startup S2 is genuinely garbage, hard pass. S3 continues S1. Video of Bo's handing with the Taliban described in the beginning of today's episode: https://youtu.be/3kDFGbk1ExM

Sarah Koenig and team have very high expectations to fill. Here's a great writeup in the NYT. Excited to get into this later today (added to my podcast playlist collection).

I loved Serial Season 1. Sarah Koenig and team did an amazing job of proving a balanced perspective, creating empathy and anger and frustration. It is interesting that the last season was an largely unknown story and this season is a well known story. I cannot wait to see where this goes. I listened to all of Serial Season 1 over the course of 2 days driving from San Francisco to Seattle. I am excited to do the opposite with Season 2, listen to each episode as they are released. I am interested to see how this changes my perspective on how the story develops.

This is the best news that I have heard all day.

Kudos to Sarah and the Serial team for the countless hours they've been putting into this recently.

Exciting! Not as initially captivating as the first episode of season 1, but definitely enough to keep me hooked and find out what will make this season (hopefully) as deeply interesting and polarizing as the last.

Serial is an example of the new generation of high quality podcasts. So much effort has been put into each episode of podcast and it is an absolute joy to listen to it. It brings this feeling which you don't get in any other medium.

How much do we think Squarespace is paying to sponsor? All of the money or half of it?

Listened to this last night. Was worried it couldn't be as good as season 1. But... ITS TERRIFIC. 🌟🌟. Very different story from S1. So well done.
