This is absolutely awesome! As someone who worked with people suffering from substance abuse, they often talked about how important our face-to-face group therapy sessions are to them. Being in the same room with people who just "get it" is the most powerful thing, especially being guided also by a counselor/therapist who is empathetic.
I always wanted to see whether there are tools that can try to replicate the magic digitally (especially since pandemic completed obliterated that option for people). It looks like you guys are doing it!
Love the mission, the design, and I am excited to where you guys go from here!

Totally re: people who "get it". For that reason we use peer support specialists with matching lived experience as our members, so the entire group "gets it" together! Offering a space where there is no hierarchy dynamics has been so rewarding for our members (and us!) - to be able to truly open up and watch the affirmation nods spread across the (virtual) room. We're still working on continuously improving the magic part, so any feedback/tips from those who have been in the group space like yourself is always welcome!!

We've worked closely with expert group therapists and mental health organizations to develop personalized communities that promote vulnerable conversations and lasting relationships for students and early-mid career professionals. This is all housed on our mobile application and web app where you can text, video chat, gratitude journal, and attend community events (with automated calendar invites).
How it works:
- First, we match users into hand-picked groups of 6-8 individuals paired with a Shimmer Guide with similar lived experiences.
- You and your group-mates join weekly 1 hr video sessions tailored for your needs by the Shimmer Guide via a curriculum developed with UCSF therapists.
- Meet other growth-oriented individuals through community events like wellness workshops, game nights, and movie screenings led by our community team!
